Pros – Overall, Real is very good about how they treat their employees and the fantastic attitudes of those that work there are proof.
Cons – Real has been saddled with a less than positive reputation in the industry and amongst consumers. It is very hard for people to see past our past despite the many great accomplishments and products we have made.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep sharing with your employees. There is talk about the feelings of being a family, well that means we share in the ups and the downs.

Current Employee – been working at RealNetworks
Pros – The people are smart -- like all the high tech firms --- but, they're kind and generous too. My office is routinely full of people stopping by to say hello. How was your weekend? Can I ask your advise on this or that? It's a wonderful place to work. I love it.
Cons – The pace is slower that usual for high-tech. it takes a long time to get things done.
Advice to Senior Management – Resolve the upper management problems i.e. Rob's continued influence and focus on products and services.

Pros – Real is an exciting and dynamic market.
Real creates Interesting Technology and has a very innovative culture.
Lots of smart people at the company.
Financially very strong, which means that even if the economy really hits a wall the company will be a safe port in a storm
Cons – Because Real is in a very dynamic industry means that things change a lot, so one needs to like/thrive when there's a lot of change. Lots of big competitors means that Real has to be very nimble, which also creates a lot of fluidity. Music industry in particular can be a challenging partner because it is such a dysfunctional industry.
Advice to Senior Management – Communicate more, especially in times of change.

Current Employee – been working at RealNetworks full-time
Pros – Great company run by great people. Takes a lot more flak then most companies that deliver similar services, as far as my experience is concerned.
Cons – Almost too forgiving of customer blame-shift, which results in team members sometimes taking more stress then usual, but mostly well established communication systems.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep listening to your employees. Great ideas often come in small costs with massive gains.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
