I have been working at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great science drives the company, good scientists, good atmosphere, hard workers, nice people, all people working for the patients, growing company

    Cons

Very manager dependent, some departments & situations are not good. May be hard to move within Company. Promotion processes are not transparent, at times they do not seem fair/merit based. Rating system is arbitrary. HR department is not supportive of employees or middle managers at all; they play silly games. Pay is on the low side for pharma industry. Commercial group is becoming more influential in the science.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please stay true to the scientific and patient focussed mission. Commercial success will follow good science and medicine, commercial must not lead.

I have been working at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time

    Pros

The salaries were recently increased in the research area. The facility is nice and reasonably new.

    Cons

The review system and promotions result in a lot of negativity. The point system really relates to how many years in that position rather than how well you work. The promotions are mostly done by time in the position also meaning that those that perceive themselves as hard-workers get de-motivated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ways to identify harder workers or those who go above and beyond would improve moral.
A change in the promotion system is required.

    Pros

Great culture, lots of parties, and great stock options.

    Cons

    Sometimes management can be tricky.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More trainings for managers to become leaders. They are great at their work, but not always at leading the group.

    I worked at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals

    Pros

The overall working atmosphere is great, worked with some highly intelligent people, very enthusiastic about teaching you. The company throws many events to improve morale as well as reputation.

    Cons

Working with chemicals and animals, there is some risk involved. Also while most of the people there are great, there are some that aren't but that's something you find in every place.

I worked at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Small company allows you have a good working relationship. Lines of communication are more open. The company also provides a great learning experience with presentations from colleagues on different topics.

    Cons

Resources can sometimes be an issue since it is a small company and for some projects work is outsourced.

I have been working at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The company expanded dramatically in the recent years and is expected to have a bright future. The employees enjoy good salary, benefits and job security. The company also has an overall friendly and flexible working environment, which encourages collaboration and innovation.

    Cons

The promotion system is not ideal, which generated glass ceiling for a lot of senior titled researchers. This would compromise enthusiasm of some high-quality researches in a long run.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention on rewarding hardworking, senior titled researchers who had outstanding performances yet not promotable by the current system. Maybe even modify the system.

Secure, fun and exciting atmosphere but not perfect...

I have been working at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

With the industry still contracting (ie Merck's recent layoffs) it is comforting to have peace of mind that we should be secure for the next few years with our recent success. Fun environment (lots of parties), great benefits (stock options are a huge plus even for those of us in lower positions), above average 401K and insurance, tuition reimbursement even increased. With recent success, salary is catching up to industry norms, I started ~4 years ago and felt fairly underpaid at the time, especially considering the cost of living, but since then the compensation has improved where I no longer consider it a con and it was a huge one to start.

    Cons

Unclear direction for growth/advancement. RA's (non-Phds) generally have a rather define glass ceiling (RA V). In my group, not a lot of distinction between the levels (RA II vs RA V). Promotions are difficult to obtain. Position can be monotonous and unchallenging after time again due to lack of growth and increased roles/responsibilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more opportunities for growth, rather then bringing in outside applicants could a role be filled internally?

I have been working at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Small company feel, lots of events to make the work environment fun, generous stock options packages which keep you invested in the company's success

    Cons

Growth withing research and development groups maxes out at a certain point for those without PhDs

Hiring so many new employees so fast has caused some gaps in the bureaucracy at times
