ProsFriendly, smart people. BBQs in Summer. Good work/life balance in my department.

ConsThey've been trying to fire an individual who is terrible at their job for at least 1 year. It's annoying that the rest of the team has to adapt to the bad egg's personality. Other than that the job is great.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the good work.

    Good company to work in

    Scientist (Current Employee)

ProsThe salaries were recently increased in the research area. The facility is nice and reasonably new.

ConsThe review system and promotions result in a lot of negativity. The point system really relates to how many years in that position rather than how well you work. The promotions are mostly done by time in the position also meaning that those that perceive themselves as hard-workers get de-motivated.

Advice to Senior ManagementWays to identify harder workers or those who go above and beyond would improve moral.
A change in the promotion system is required.

ProsGreat culture, lots of parties, and great stock options.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore trainings for managers to become leaders. They are great at their work, but not always at leading the group.

ProsThe overall working atmosphere is great, worked with some highly intelligent people, very enthusiastic about teaching you. The company throws many events to improve morale as well as reputation.

ConsWorking with chemicals and animals, there is some risk involved. Also while most of the people there are great, there are some that aren't but that's something you find in every place.

A good experience working for a small biotech company on the cutting edge of R&D. Good, friendly work environment.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsSmall company allows you have a good working relationship. Lines of communication are more open. The company also provides a great learning experience with presentations from colleagues on different topics.

ConsResources can sometimes be an issue since it is a small company and for some projects work is outsourced.

The company has a bright future, employees has great job security yet easy to glass ceiling

    Senior Staff Scientist (Current Employee)
    Tarrytown, NY

ProsThe company expanded dramatically in the recent years and is expected to have a bright future. The employees enjoy good salary, benefits and job security. The company also has an overall friendly and flexible working environment, which encourages collaboration and innovation.

ConsThe promotion system is not ideal, which generated glass ceiling for a lot of senior titled researchers. This would compromise enthusiasm of some high-quality researches in a long run.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay more attention on rewarding hardworking, senior titled researchers who had outstanding performances yet not promotable by the current system. Maybe even modify the system.

Secure, fun and exciting atmosphere but not perfect...

    Research Associate III (Current Employee)
    Tarrytown, NY

ProsWith the industry still contracting (ie Merck's recent layoffs) it is comforting to have peace of mind that we should be secure for the next few years with our recent success. Fun environment (lots of parties), great benefits (stock options are a huge plus even for those of us in lower positions), above average 401K and insurance, tuition reimbursement even increased. With recent success, salary is catching up to industry norms, I started ~4 years ago and felt fairly underpaid at the time, especially considering the cost of living, but since then the compensation has improved where I no longer consider it a con and it was a huge one to start.

ConsUnclear direction for growth/advancement. RA's (non-Phds) generally have a rather define glass ceiling (RA V). In my group, not a lot of distinction between the levels (RA II vs RA V). Promotions are difficult to obtain. Position can be monotonous and unchallenging after time again due to lack of growth and increased roles/responsibilities.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide more opportunities for growth, rather then bringing in outside applicants could a role be filled internally?

Great first job out of college!

    Research Associate II (Current Employee)
    Tarrytown, NY

ProsSmall company feel, lots of events to make the work environment fun, generous stock options packages which keep you invested in the company's success

ConsGrowth withing research and development groups maxes out at a certain point for those without PhDs

Hiring so many new employees so fast has caused some gaps in the bureaucracy at times

A nice place to work, long term? we will see.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

Prosdecent pay, good starting time off and nice people. Building is very clean and employees are usually treated very respectfully.

Consgrowing fast with rapidly changing rules and procedures. This can be frustrating and is usually overkill and senseless.

Advice to Senior ManagementIncrease employee pay to maintain the high quality of the Regeneron team and decrease the potential of employee turnover in the future.
