ProsThere is nothig good to say about this company

ConsThis company is so jacked up it's not funny. No one in the front office has a clue. You get paid nothing for all the work you have to do. The "higher ups" do not give a darn about the real workers, the stylists, becuase they pay nothing and give nothing back in return, but want you to work hard. The district management, regiona management, and local management are not on the same page. They all say something different when it comes to protocol and what is expected of the stylists.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry working for a week, heck, a day in one of your salons and not the best ones either to see the real deal. Learn what it feels like to be behind the chair and not in your cozy offices getting the millions in stock options.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

ProsWhen they hire you, they promise the world in company benefits, wage potential, and opportunities...

ConsIt takes a little time in working for this company, while you’re being underpaid in wages deserved, and before you get past all the loopholes, catch-22's, and prefabricated answers to known common employee complaints; for one to finally figure out the real deal in working with this company. Within two months, a hairstylist will see that she is being under-valued, under-compensated, and unlikely to expect much from the company on their original hiring offers and benefits that are full of ambiguity. Weekly schedules are given on Sunday, to begin the following day on Monday, without any advance notice for one to be able to make weekly plans to live by. Weekly schedules and hours are adjusted individually to prevent employee commission rates from being reached within the bi-weekly period and to preserve the minimum wage bracket per employee.

ProsFree food in the lunch room.
Coffee on every floor.
Most people are nice.
This is a great place to work for the first month.

ConsAfter about 3 weeks on the job you start to realize that there is nothing you can to make things more efficient.
Literally takes at least a month to get access to the applications you use every day.
None of your work is noticed.
They hire the laziest people that contract for them.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop wasting money and nit-picking the little things that literally do not matter.

ProsNo booth rental. Hourly wage.

ConsStarts out at minimum wage ($7.85hr) and they tell you that you can earn more based on how busy you are. Unless you have a clientele you're screwed.

Advice to Senior ManagementCommission or higher wages.

Current Employee – been working at Regis Corporation

ProsEasy work to get right after school, guaranteed salary (minimum wage of course), um... thats it.

ConsHours of sitting during slow days. Minimum wage as a base salary with no chance of reaching a decent commission rate. NO bonuses or credits for COUPONS. Had a $7.99 haircut sale for a week that all stylist lost a considerable amount of money on, while working long hectic days. Products and tools that stylist are told to use are not always up to par. Constantly running out of color and backbar products, but having a limit that we cannot max on re-orders. Being sent tons and tons of products that never get sold or used because stylist were not questioned on what was right for their salon. Winning a district wide contest between salons only to be sent a $50 gift card to be split between 5 stylist. WHOOO living the dream with Regis.

Advice to Senior ManagementI would advise them to come work for a day and deal with the public, do the services and work we do for such cheap pay. Try treating your employees like they make your business run, because without us you'd have nothing but a building. The reason these salons are viewed as lower service, or a place to get a bad haircut is because the only stylist who want to actually work here are the ones that have no goals for there future, or ones that don't care to be taken advantage of. You want good employees, try treating us like it. I've wasted two years with this company, so I guess it's time to move on, with my clientel of course.

ProsGreat insurance benefits & great prices for customers.

ConsSalon-management not held accountable of their actions. Management will write-up employees for doing the same things management gets-away with.

Advice to Senior ManagementBETTER-MORE THOROUGH salon-management training BY Area Supervisors and NOT the employees. Salon-management should be reprimanded the same as stylists.

ProsOpportunity to work with a variety tech
Flexible scheduling
Lots of friendly and talented coworkers who deserve to be treated better

ConsPoor leadership from the top down
Way too many meetings
Extremely thin staffing in IT
Complete lack of direction
Will take the word of contractors over employees every time.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet your act together. You have employees that will work hard for you, use them and don't treat them like warm bodies and numbers on a balance sheet.

Proslove my staff we all make a great team,(do my best to make them feel appreciated). i know we wont go out of business!! at least i have a job! i also love my supervisor she works very hard and all ways takes the time to discuss matters with me. she will grab her shears and work along side of us when needed. i have never ever had a supervisor like her, she is very good at her job. one of a kind to say the least!!

Conspay scale is terrible, productivity is per pay period (Greatclips is daily) and the fact is we are better then greatclips.we are loseing great stylist to great clips because they pay so much better.i know at my salon customer service is number one. GC your on a time limit client is lucky to get a good H/C. but unfortunately Regis only cares about numbers and percents. so employees are all ways in fear of loseing there low paying jobs, how can our productivity increase with so many coupons!!!! i work very hard to make sure my clients are treated like royalty, i love what i do, then i look at my paycheck and i want to cry. how am i gonna pay my bills with this. its so sad when the kid at mcdonalds makes more then i do hourly. i went to school to be a PROFESIONAL hair stylist and i feel im treated meaningless and so very replaceable as well as disrespectsd by upper management. I feel regis wants to turn us all in to assembly line workers (by the way assembly workers get paid more) but at the same time they also want a full service salon enviorment . we are full service ,great clips is NOT!! so the only competition i see where greatclips is concerned is great clips treats there stylist with better pay!!!! And the sad part is if any employee dare speak there mind good luck because you will be out of a job you are an AT WILL EMPLOYEE!! Regis does not need a reason to fire you. but with that being said they can find a reason so very easy. all they have to do is say your service per hour , average ticket sale , productivity, colors are not up to there standards. Take your pick because your gone no matter how good you are or how much passion you have for your work and no matter how happy your clients are. I personally love my salon and my girls and above all i really enjoy my clients but the sad truth is after all my years with Regis i think its time i start looking elsewhere, To me greatclips has all ways been the enemy but now im starting to think if you can not beat them join them. My paycheck would definitely increase and greatclips would gain a greatfull, hardworking, passionate, loyal employee.

Advice to Senior ManagementHonestly and sadly Regis does not want any advise. If they did productivity would be daily not per pay period (then hourly really would not be an issue) if during your two week pay period a stylist had 8 days she made productivity and 2 or 3 slow days (due to weather or what ever) the stylist would have made commission for 8 days and the other days she would of only made her base salary. wow what a concept!!!! That seems only fair.Hmmmm thats how Greatclips pays, And Regis thinks Greatclips is our compition, that is why we have the same type of coupons, same check in system with the computer, seems to me Regis is a copycat!! Well then why wont Regis copy there payscale too??? Regis should be embarrassed. FYI starting pay for a stylist is 8.50 per hour if you have experience it can be higher. managers starting pay ranges 11.25-12.00 i wish they would go through this sight and read everyones review of them. im happy to see how many profesionals share my point of view.
