I have been working at Regis Corporation

    Pros

Best of both worlds: Lots of walk-in opportunities, plus a steady request clientele, great experience, great training, good scheduling, continuing education. Lots of free product.

    Cons

Difficult to hit numbers for raises, benefits are fairly expensive, hiring decisions often happen out of desperation and as a result, there are often inexperienced and unprofessional stylists that make the whole salon look bad. Management is unsupportive and offers no insight or guidance when looking to increase clientele and making raises. Most conduct policies are vague, and management does not enforce the few rules that do exist.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make promotions more attainable, and create a program to help guide stylists to move up in commissions.

    Pros

Great job experience you can learn a lot because they do everything, health insurance, paid vacations, ok tips, enjoy working

    Cons

Paper work, having to critique the People you work with which drama always follows, they play favorites, will never get a raise, work so hard to get nothing in return

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get back to the customers and your stylest and pay them what they deserve

I have been working at Regis Corporation full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours. Product and tools are supplied.

    Cons

Paid on commission and it is very low. Starts out at 38% and can only go up to 43%. Must wear all black to work and there is no reimbursement for this inconvenience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think about a higher commission so the turn over rate isn't so high.

I worked at Regis Corporation full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Super relaxed environment at least at my location, great for building your clientele.

    Cons

Mia and Maxx (owned by Regis) closed 2 weeks after I started working there, got transferred to a Regis and that one closed 2 years after I started there. minimum pay, hardly any education. I did get a $250 dollar bonus after Regis closed though.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to charge above average prices, you should consider classes for your employees.

I worked at Regis Corporation full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Busy location, lots of freedom to be creative

    Cons

Not enough hours, low commission rates, difficult to get raises, uneven treatment of employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I was constantly being reprimanded for silly things. My manager had the poorest technical skills I'd ever seen and would pick out every flaw in the work of others.

I have been working at Regis Corporation full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

For being out of school it's a good place to start!

    Cons

It's a corporation and what's making things difficult for us!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more involved in your individual salon needs. Updates, sales, etc.

Had a great salon manager, but horrible co workers and district manager and pay was questionable.

    I worked at Regis Corporation

    Pros

Great salon manager that was willing to help me learn as I was just getting my cosmetology license.

    Cons

Co workers didn't want new stylists being hired in. District manager was rude and down right cruel.
Pay checks were always off and questionable.
Never knew when I was scheduled to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't fire stylists after only being out of school. Come up with a program for new hires that allows them to grow and develop technique.

I have been working at Regis Corporation full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I really love working for regis. I have been an employee for 6 and a half years.
great career progression, you can go into management, education and also the creative team. Good training courses and a lot on offer. Also train managers in HR these days.
Most salons tend to be in good busy locations do lots of walk in guests.

    Cons

    Unrealistic targets for comission.
Goal post gets changed for monthly bonus.
wage for managers are very low compared to othe companies.
Use to get a lot of incentives where you could win holidays and gadgets, don't do this now due to cit backs.
staffing tends to be tight in each salon so can be a nightmare when organising holidays.
have to rely on tips and comission to boost your wage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make it the way it used to be.
Review managers pay when they ask, I've not had a pay rise in 5 years when I know the senior management have.
Some salons needs to be invested in and refurbished
