I worked at Regis Corporation part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

It was great to be able to have time to do homework and whatnot when working. I became very knowledgable with the different products and hair and beauty in general. My fellow employees as well as my immediate managers were all great.

    Cons

The regional and district managers are awful - they have a false sense of superiority and have no regard for subordinates. There doesn't seem to really be much stability in the company, and stores keep closing left and right, which does not bode well for their future.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have more consideration for your employees, as well as a more professional attitude in regards to gossip and cattiness.

I have been working at Regis Corporation full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I work with some awesome people. Product and salon discounts are nice. I love having the free lunch.

    Cons

Company seems to have odd priorities on what to spend money on. Why can't I afford the cost of living if we have super expensive artwork (which you are NEVER to touch)? IT projects seem to be disorganized, which has impacted my role in an incredibly stressful manner. No, I don't know when the new POS system is coming out either.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clear communication and please make sure everyone and every department is on the same page.

    Pros

It seems like the new management in IT is ready to leverage newer technologies that have been under-utilized over the last decade. Why are we using Lotus Notes 8.5????

    Cons

Older technology (hardware and software). Understaffed IT area makes it difficult to get timely responses to hardware and software requests. Too many different systems - total lack of integration.

I have been working at Regis Corporation part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Vacation pay after a year.
A job you like to do with interest.
    Free classes to extend skill.
    Contest.
    Point incentive.
    Retail commission-walk in.

    Cons

    Pay per hour.
    Dealing with cheap people.
Free classes are 2 hours away.
    Mall hours.
    Work All weekends.
Dress code strict for a mastercuts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cut us some slack. This is to management that does not include salon managers as they work their asses off for crap pay. Treat the girls with respect. The managment for Minneapolis, MN is not worth minimum wage pay.

I worked at Regis Corporation full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

You do all hair types and you're in a busy location. Its a good salon to build your own clientle and to become confident with work. You dont have to pay rent, you dont have to buy products and or equipment. All you need is your license and your sissors. You get paid by the hour if you do not make commission.

    Cons

The clients wont wait no longer than 20minutes. There is no receptionist and no walk phone. I was tired of leaving my client because I had to ring up retail and or answer the phone. you have to work every weekend. you have to work nights. the company keeps 60% of everything you earn. you get paid twice a month but you really get paid once a month because one check is advance pay. My fisrt year I made $14,000. Its really a dead end job if you think about you never gonna make enough money to survive there if you only want to be a Stylist.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Mangers are over worked and under paid I know they are streessed by that but don't take it out on your co-workers. Make sure you treat them with respect so they can help take aload off instead of adding to it,

I have been working at Regis Corporation full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Been with regis for 13 years and looking forward to much needed change in our industry,Been with the company to long to leave ,so we need to change things

    Cons

Right now it seems the company is only worried about the customer experiance when coming into the salon. After 30+ years working in salons the real problem is there are alot of stylist that have no idea what they are doing. They are getting out of school with no idea how to even shampoo let alone how to cut hair..and we Regis owns the school.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

the pay needs to be better so we can keep good stylist .We need a better way to find advancement in our company. They need someone that can go into every salon and make sure the managers can cut hair and do every service in the salon perfect. And someone to teach new stylist..as a busy manager I dont have time.

Former Employee - Stylist in Columbus, OH

    I worked at Regis Corporation

    Pros

Easy to get hired and stay on. Depending on location steady business. Provides all product and most tools. Salon management is usually lax. Nice dress code

    Cons

Minimum wage with no raises. The commision is a joke its so complex and unrealistic to acheave pass level two. Upper management is only concerned with customer count and not quality work. Crazy coupons and specials that you have take (ex. 5.99 haircuts) which do effect how you make commission. If you get slow you automatically told to go home or told to come in later so they can be even for hours and patrons. Not able to make appointments which really sucks if you are trying to build a clientele.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your stylist a decent wage and they might stick around. Allow people to make appointments.

I have been working at Regis Corporation

    Pros

the compensation, prize, events, and promotions.a very generous employee discount. it is a work place where you will meet various amounts of people thoughout the day.

    Cons

work schedules are hectic. sometimes two styists are available for the rest of the night meanwhile, the is a wait of 14 individuals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

my advice to the mangement would be to put themselves in a stylist shoes, and compare the amount of responsibilities we have now versus what they had then.

I have been working at Regis Corporation

    Pros

The company has flexible work hours, which makes it nice if you a family with children that require you to be out of the office frequently.

    Cons

The flexibility in the work schedule comes at the cost of lower pay, especially compared to comperable jobs in the region.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Base hiring and promotion decisions on who is the most qualified or who has the best chance to provide the company with the most benefit.
