    Pros

Great pay; on-site gym; nice people (for the most part); good benefits; beautiful building; fairly stable; on-site cafeteria.

    Cons

Upper management is disconnected from reality. No work/life balance. Horrible communication. A few directors bully their way through the day and use intimidation to get things done - top management is either unaware or does not care about this. Business decisions often lack long-term vision and seem impulsive. Departments work in silos and do not interact much.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It does not matter how seasoned a director is. If she is a bully and treats employees like garbage, they will all leave and you will be left with a department of one. There is no place for micro-management and rudeness in a successful, global company.

    Pros

good benefits and some good perks

    Cons

The lack of communication between departments is disgusting creating more unnecessary work for all. I question their corporate ethical code as it appears to be very lacking.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your people in the trenches doing the work and share information between departments in a pro active manner. ResMed as a whole is very reactive and this makes for poor work flow for all. The house cleaning that is taking place should have started at the top. If asked what happened with ResMed I'd say there was money mismanagement that had to be addressed and in typical ResMed fashion flying by the seat of their pants they are laying people off, forcing others out, and going out of their way to make things difficult for those who have been with the company for many years. Unfortunatly, this used to be a great company to work for. However, do to money mismanagement all hell has broke loose and it has only just started.

    Pros

Beautiful facilty in Kearney Mesa, excellent benefits, and a nice parking garage. Sleep apnea can be a serious health condition, it was fulfilling to know you might be helping someone.

    Cons

No work/life balance, expected to work 10-12 hour days. Management act like drill sergeants, demeaning and belittling the staff. Very unprofessional: men making obscene gestures, oogling the women and acting like 12 year olds. HR tends to have 'deer in headlights' look when you ask a question.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Grow up and behave according to your own Corporate Values. Any relationship between the written corporate values and the behaviour is totally coincidental.

    Pros

    Employee benefits, physical work environment

    Cons

Poor advancement of women in management from within, women are almost never promoted into management positions or any form of broader responsibility. There is not a single woman area manager and above, although they are happy employing women in sales positions, simply because they outperform most men, and you have to be attractive.. better yet... be able to smoke cigars and drink.. lots.. to be accepted into the exclusive circles. ( oh they promote women into management in europe.. almost forgot all 3 of them)

It is noticed also that the good old boys club poke fun of women at work as well as in social functions, objectifying almost every one of them, openly... sexual banter is expected at every company function, at times with your significant other present... so be prepared to have ugly men use innuendos non stop for as long as you work there, including week long sales meetings where you will be . Most women have gotten used to that and it seems to be a well accepted fact. The yearly sales meetings are really a reality show after 6 pm..the woman at the bar still holding by 2 am will have a continuing career... almost guaranteed.

human Resources know... but they are useless...

It is a good old 50 year old boys club who promote from within their own, at times at the expense of good candidates who could be promoted and could perform much better.

If you are a woman hoping to have a progressing career and climbing the ranks in mid level management, your career will hit the brakes with this company. You will go nowhere, your best hope is a lateral move and that is it.

Also the company does not employ minorities unless it is for customer service, warehouse operations etc... with a few exceptions. The company also makes their political leanings very public and almost implying everyone should vote republican....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Women are really your best asset in that company.
    - Philips-respironics will eclipse resmed in about 2 years flat.
