I worked at ResMed full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Superior products, highly innovative, reputation for being the best in the industry, commitment to excellence, great pay and benefits, gorgeous facility. I sincerely felt that every single person I worked with and worked for were professional, sharp and caring. I was proud to work there-- I was proud of the products and the people-- and leadership's commitment to supporting a wide variety of charities. Vacation time, healthcare, dental care, 401K-- all just outstanding.

    Cons

I can literally think of only one negative. The culture was such that it was hard to balance family and work life-- you truly enjoy working there but it can take over. It's not that there were horrible deadlines or that the work was too much-- but that it was hard to keep from opening the laptop at home after dinner, hard not to work on Saturday morning..... just the overall culture somehow seemed to "creep" into home life.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Might be the dumbest idea in the world-- but perhaps try "forbidding" email access after hours once in awhile? The people that work there are sharp and competitive-- and it is hard not to respond to an email after hours--- you just felt this "pressure". (Maybe it's just me?). If they could figure out a way to help people find that balance-- I think turn-over would be reduced. I don't want to over-emphasize this point though-- ResMed was definitely the best company I ever worked for.

I have been working at ResMed full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

If you are motivated to do big things ResMed will nurture you and won't get in your way.
Company has a great culture...good benefits, PTO, cafeteria, gym. It's a fun place to work with nice happy hours, x-mas party, etc.
People there seem much happier than other companies in San Diego (and I've worked at a couple of the biggest).
The products are the best in the industry and help save lives.

    Cons

There are a few newer VPs in the San Diego building as of the last couple of years...they have bigger egos than others had in the past. As a result I've recently seen a few people cut down in meetings. Overall though, most of management is very good.
The disparity of work that people complete is disheartening. Some people work 12 hour days and eat at their desks, while others bs about sports all day, take long lunches and work out at the gym every day for hours...and then get promoted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Mick is awesome, one of the smartest people I've ever met and treats everyone in the building with a lot of respect no matter their title. The rest of management should follow his lead as best they can!

    Pros

Incredible company - strong growth, good contribution to society.
    Very strong ethical values.
    Excellent co-workers.
Office is new and very nice, with free parking, gym and cafeteria.
Many career advantages of a large company, but not too much red tape yet.
Not shy to spend the money to acquire quality systems.

    Cons

Work-life balance can be tough to achieve. Every request is agreed to, and deadlines are accepted without looking at the whole portfolio of tasks. This seems to be across all departments.
Staff turnover is low, which is good, but reduces opportunities for promotions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Prioritize the opportunities, or hire more people to grab them!

    Pros

ResMed values the employees and has world class benefits, vacation, holidays, training, wellness programs, gym, walking trails, artwork and a tremendous culinary crew onsite.

    Cons

The con is not being able to know everybody by name. ResMed has created a forum so that everyone can meet each quarter at a mixer. This allows us the chance to get to know our fellow colleagues.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let's keep making a difference in people's lives one breath at a time! Please keep making world class products and continue to hire and develop our talented employees.

I worked at ResMed full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Amazing office building and space. Excellent facilities. The best medical benefits I have ever had in my life compared to other Fortune 500 companies I have worked for. Great People. Everyone was very intellectual and very knowledgeable in their fields. From the top down, there was a sense of professionalism from everyone and every department.

    Cons

Priorities get shifted and budgets get cut after you have been working on projects for several months. It is understandable but I would say that would be the only con.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work.

    Pros

GREAT benefits, great office and location, great team, great product offering. This is a great place to work with a lot going for it.

    Cons

There are so many moving parts that it may be a bit difficult to keep up! With the number of projects and division between California (American HQ) and Australia (Product Development HQ) it's sometimes difficult to keep up to speed with what's changed since yesterday.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Figure out how to fill those open reqs!
