Restoration Hardware is a great place to work.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Tracy, CA

ProsCo-Workers are like family, Compensation is at or above Industry standards, Leadership is always willing to help.

ConsBenefits could be better, especially along the lines of the company match on 401k benefits, some systems are outdated, and some are not used to their full potential.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Great culture, great potential

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe culture at RH is life changing and if it's aligned with your personality/beliefs, you will be happy here. This is a unique environment--innovative, fast-paced, challenging, chaotic and, at times, confusing. If you are someone who is flexible, open minded, outgoing and eager to learn new things, you will most likely enjoy being here.

Average benefits package, lots of caring leadership, beautiful work spaces at home office and plenty of exposure to interesting areas of the business. People are generally very friendly and helpful. The people working in the galleries and outlets are fantastic--truly talented, warm and intelligent.

ConsSome systems are slightly out-dated. Technology is becoming more important, but has not been previously.

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider where you are--you're in the Bay Area. How can you modify things at RH to remain competitive and become an industry leader in attracting and retaining talent? Be innovative with benefits. Encourage flexibility in schedules. Make sure all people at home office have access to the same perks.

Growing company trying to change culture to match their direction but not there yet.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    ProsGreat brand
    Aspirational Core Values
    Good discount
    Leader in industry

ConsCore Values are not a part of the culture yet. It seems to have ex-large company folks trying to be agile/entrepreneurial so they talk the talk but do not know quite what it means on a day to day basis.

Fear seems to be an issue at the mid-level of management as well as cliques

Marketing and decision making does not seem coordinated or thoughtful.

    Old world OB thinking.

Advice to Senior ManagementBelieve and act on your own core values
Until you get rid of fear, no innovation will occur at lower ranks
Lots of ceilings and current staff not used to their potential - wasted talent.

Great products - not very generous to employees

Part Time Sales Associate (Current Employee) Saint Louis, MO

ProsYou get to work in a Beautiful environment. The company produces Quality products. People like the product selection and customization options. Employees receive 40% Discount on products.

ConsThe "resto rules" are cult like! Do not say anything negative about anything!! You cannot have ANY personal problems! Everyone is very fake. The compensation or benefits for part timers (even at 32 hours/week) is not industry standard. The company is more what can you do for the company than what can we do for each other...

Advice to Senior ManagementStore leaders need to be more mature and have more experience. The Design program needs to be cultivated and expanded in Saint Louis.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    ConsPay
    Advancement
    Treat of Users
    Scared to lose my job
    unrealistic deadlines

Advice to Senior ManagementMore tome off, get RID of the absent system?

    Ok Place to work.

Lead Sales Associate (Former Employee) Boston, MA

ProsThey have a good employee discount although, even with the discount, most items are still out of reach.
Had a lot of fun with customers.
I was really well trained as a sales lead. I learned all aspects of running a retail store including sales, customer service, accounting, hiring, visual merchandising, and stock and inventory management.

    ConsStanding all day!
3AM Floor moves to keep the store "looking fresh".
Psycho Store Managers. Not all were bad, but the ones that were...hell.

    Burnt Out

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsMost of the people are great. Some, especially at the Corporate Office, are phony.

ConsToo much workload for middle management. Couldn't even get a clerical person hired to help with the day-to-day tasks (there was always a "hiring freeze" on).

Call Center Representative (Former Employee) Grand Prairie, TX

ProsEasy Jobs that if you make it your own you will do fine.
Free food and fun hoilday themes and prizes
Friendly good co-workers they pick the Right ppl

ConsAlot of Grey area where there are rules but they pick and choose whats right and wrong.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to advocate and beside going word for word on policy that have grey areas try to work with your team.

Learned a great deal about the funiture industry.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsIts great to have an ipad to work with on the job.

Consno compensation for working hard on closing big deals. They must add commission to the pay to really make itn worth the time.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Busy work, I liked my job but would never go back

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe company discount is amazing, your coworkers are great too. Free Tea and Coffee was great...It is those in upper management that leave a little to be desired. I loved the products that we sold as well as the beautiful stores we had to sell them in

ConsUnrealistic deadlines, unhappy people, and overall fear that your job would be downsized with the next set of cuts made it quite hard to love my job. The old computer systems in the stores were very sad, they were like running dos yet expecting apple results.
