    Pros

Honestly, I was very pleased with my experience at Rite Aid. I worked for roughly a year, and in the end turned down an opportunity to be a shift supervisor for a better paying job elsewhere. I'd say by and large the atmosphere that the company fosters is positive and inclusive. My bosses and co-workers were kind, invested, and appreciative. Furthermore, there is definitely opportunity for advancement if that is what you're interested in.

    Cons

Pay is not good, even store managers receive much less money than they deserve, considering the hours they work.
Inflexible policies -- such as requiring Ids for senior citizens, ect.
    Outdated equipment (particularly photo machines)!
Not a whole lot of benefits for hourly employees

    Advice to Management

Listen to the advice of your store managers! They know what works and what doesn't

    Pros

Agreeable corporate. Good managers. Management was understanding about being late and calling off. I still have friendly relationships with both my former managers.

    Cons

Not very generous pay. 24 hour store - difficult to take time off. Monthly training courses that were repetitive and boring. Customers are not always friendly. Corporate tended to hire people from outside the company rather than promoting internally.

    Advice to Management

Management should do more to encourage good work ethic and doing one's job right. Although it was just a part-time cashier position, it was frustrating to see coworkers who had no intention of putting effort in or caring about helping customers.

    Pros

    -Good discount
    -Corporate is not too overbearing
-My manager trusts me and doesn't hover
    -Friendly coworkers, no drama
-I work at a smaller store in a strip mall and know most of my customers
-I get good hours and schedule is flexible
-Room for advancement (the girl I replaced as cashier became shift leader after just one year working her first job)

    Cons

-Low pay (took a pay cut when I switched jobs from $8.50 and hour to $8.00 an hour)
-CBT's are repetitive and there are too many of them!
    -Computer system is outdated
-Company is wasteful and not green (you have to rip the covers off of books and throw them away if they don't get sold within a month! As an avid reader, I find it painful to rip up books), there is no recycling program so everything goes in the trash including plastic milk cartons.
-You have to pull items from the shelf two weeks before expiration and throw them a way when they are still perfectly good to use! Many people will still buy them.
-I work at a smaller store and while that has it's benefits, we get ignored. A lot of stores have updated photo equipment and get more products.
-Customers often yell at me because we are a smaller store and we don't sell everything that is listed in the weekly add. It's a pain to have to try and explain that and give directions to the larger store.

    Advice to Management

Try to develop a green program with recycling and less throwing stuff away. We could donate books and outdated items (that are still perfectly good to use) to homeless shelters. Pay attention to your smaller stores (we work hard too and would appreciate updated equipment like the larger, newer stores). Put a panic button by the registers so it's easier to call the police if something happens.

    Pros

The people I work with are funny, and we all act like a Rite Aid family which is good!!

    Cons

If you don't always like working with people then it can get a little annoying.

    Pros

The workers are normally friendly and more the willing to help you with a work problem. The discount is pretty good since it's on top of the discounts the store already offers.

    Cons

The management can be disrespectful at time. The workers are better at training than the managers.

    Advice to Management

There is right way to talk to people firmly that is not disrespectful.
