    Pros

    Can not think of one

    Cons

Not sure there are any, politics so thick you can cut it with a knife. My first day I was advised not to trust my manager.
They will tell you what you want to hear.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to think beyond 1960 with the way you treat people and its still a boys club and the women are just as bad.
If you good at politics then this is your place.

A company which used to be good but now is not

I have been working at Robert Bosch Tool full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

They like to train people, and every year you will have two or three classes as part of your development strategy. Benefits are good, but not sure how much better than other companies.

    Cons

Definite limited upward mobility, also they will eliminate people and departments and replace them with temporary people, all while acting concerned about it. Constant reduction in time to accomplish tasks but each time a new task is created it seems there are new procedures in place which you have to navigate through. Germany rules the roost and it's a one way street as far as help and who has priority.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, was a pretty decent company, but this was in the early stages of Bosch's takeover from Emerson Electric. Since then it has gotten worse every year. They are great at buying companies, and basically destroying them in an attempt to build the Bosch brand.

They're big on drinking the koolaid, and the big thing now is "SQJ" which is more or less what any good parent instilled into you as a child. They will ask that people come up with ideas, but once you do, any ideas of changing the culture are dismissed. Not exactly sure why you would ask for input then dismiss it, but it happens to everyone there. Very big on procedures and conformity, if you are an original thinker, this is not the place for you, they want people who follow protocol and don't ask any questions.

I worked at Robert Bosch Tool full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Strong product, innovative at times, great quality, well known industry wide. Good coverage across distribution channels and a good warranty program compared with competition.

    Cons

Slow to build upon their own innovation. Marketing does not really understand the sales process for all targets of distribution. Not aggressive compared to key competitors. Field sales has been stripped of it's ability to counter competitive measures. Upper management is more concerned with making their individual bonus than growing the company and it's people. Benefits have been slashed with individual costs rising out of control compared to similar companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wake up. Your current culture is depressing. As the job market improves, you will see more and more of your key positions vacated. Again, wake up or at least start caring a little about your people.

I have been working at Robert Bosch Tool full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

There are no pros that I can see.

    Cons

Bad management, bad team leaders, bad hours, bad training, slow process on getting answers and getting things done. Constant changes with holidays, hours, rules, policies. Very, very stressful, no overtime if you don't have 40 hours in, no holiday pay for Sunday work or work on a holiday, manger lies very often, the temp workers run the place and are treated better than the full time employees who have 15 years plus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You don't care and it changes way too often to even give advice.

I worked at Robert Bosch Tool full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Discounts on tools
Nice people to work with and know

    Cons

You could be laid off at any moment. I felt the way layoffs were done were unfair. Many people worked there for 20+ years, got laid off and also didn't get the retirement benefits, since they were laid off prior to retiring. I was laid off twice, but lucky to get a position the first time. If you are prepared to be laid off at any moment, then this place is for u.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Demonstrate social responsibility and don't gain savings by laying off people when cost savings on other items could yield much better gains. It's so easy to make people pawns, instead of tackling difficult business problems.

Running a company on the back's of temporary employees for low pay should be illegal!!

I worked at Robert Bosch Tool

    Pros

Break times, scheduling, shifts, and nice break room

    Cons

This company is 90% temp employees. They can run their business paying low wages to these folks and not have to offer them benefits. Getting hired on permanent is based solely on how fast and hard you work. You basically have to work your butt off for low pay to get noticed. There are folks out there working a year and still a temporary. It's a shame that companies can do this. The work I was doing was hard labor. The pay made me sick.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer more opportunities for permanent hire. Check your management, team leads for experience and professionalism. Appreciate the work that is being done by those in the actual warehouse, instead of just recognizing those that work behind a desk wearing comfortable shoes.

    Pros

    Good tools.
Made some good friends among associate employees.
Pay when the economy was good was not bad.
    Well recognized company.

    Cons

No sense of direction in the long term business goals..
Unbelievable back stabbing at the corproate office.
    No teamwork whatsoever.
Most of the the rats ae jumping ship (most of tenured management has left the company in the last several months, which may be a good thing)..
Very little support to the field from the corporate office.
Very unethical behavior witnessed in the field and at the corporate office.
If you are at your core a dishonest, selfish, evil person....this may be a good place for you to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Institute some kind of ethical training and hire honest, ethical people. When upper and middle management behave without scruples and dishonestly it sends the wrong message to all the employees and it just multiplies. Promote teamwork.

I have been working at Robert Bosch Tool

    Pros

If you like Power Tools, it's great. Benifits not bad.

    Cons

Serious lack of communication intracompany. Good ole boy network at home office. Viscious back stabbing rampany at home office. No interest in helping further company or community, everybody out for themselves environment. Poor training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are no clear goals stated for the sales force other than the standard "make the sales number". Communication and help to the sales force is non-existent. A feeling of being all alone in the field as a sales rep. Internatinally, Bosch is a good company, but is lost in the US market.

I have been working at Robert Bosch Tool

    Pros

They have pension which a lot of places do not offer today - this is honestly the only decent thing I can say about the organization.

    Cons

The time you need to stay in order to receive a decent vacation package, the pay is so so, and they do not offer bonus unless you in management who have direct reports. So if your going for an interview get as high as you can with the salary as who knows how long it will take to receive another raise! It is truly old school white male boys club. I have not seen anything like this sine the 70's I really have walked back in time in regards to diversity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide feedback to the associates some positive not just negative it helps with moral people are really verbally abused its truly ashame!
