    Pros

Can get a job without a degree
Pay is pretty reasonable for a job in high school and college.

    Cons

Pay isn't great compared to an office job.

    Advice to Management

Growth oppertunities for employees who do get a degree to move to corporate office.

    Pros

A great management team can take you far in this company. Lots of room for advancing if your willing to literally go the distance. Good benefits and the owners give the impression they really care about the individual employs.

    Cons

You have to really voice up for a strong balance between home and work. Grocery store standard expects six day work weeks, which can be tedious and draining.

    Advice to Management

If you want your customers to get the best in customer service you have to make sure your tan feels empowered and appreciated. Pay scale needs improvement and hr is not very approachable.

    Pros

Great team work culture. The culture is promoted by management and the people they select to hire! Feels like a family run business even on the store levels of management.

    Cons

Sometimes department managers don't coordinate well with each other and it can lead to a few people having longer shifts or working on shifts that are understaffed. But typically this is not an issue.

    Advice to Management

Bettor organization and interaction with lower level employees. When a manager comes over and notices your department is under a barrage of customers and jumps it, its like a 5 star general joining the battlefield with privates. Your employees really respect you if you can do each job in the store with proficiency.

    Pros

The other workers are very friendly.
    They give raises every year.
The managers know what they are doing
    Taking time off is easy.

    Cons

At my store you cannot work full time.
Finding people to cover last minute shifts is horrible.
    Not that many Cons though.

  7. Bagger

I worked at Roche Bros. Supermarkets

    Pros

I was a bagger who placed purchases in bags, put them in the carts, and pushed them out to the parking lot to load into the shoppers' cars. It was a simple job that would be difficult to get fired from.

    Cons

The only downside was having to push the cart outside to the customer's car when it was down pouring rain or freezing sleet. Check the weather before work and dress accordingly. There were Roche Bros. umbrellas by the door for employee use, but they would run out and were also difficult to handle while pushing the cart and loading the car.

    Pros

    good management
easy directives and goals put out by management
simple job, doesnt require critical thinking or many skills

    Cons

company policy prohibits you from taking tips when wage is already low
not much else really, overall good company

    Advice to Management

consider making pay raises more attainable for employees. its disheartening to hear in orientation that you can boost your pay but have it not really come true in the long run

    Pros

The people here are generally friendly and supportive of each other. Solid management on the whole is understanding of personal responsibilities and reasonable in their managing style. Loyalty and dedication to work and company are valued above nearly all else at Roche Brothers.

    Cons

You will be asked to work nights and weekends in all likelihood. The pay is fair, but by no means generous, at the associate level. Lot's of management rotation, which can be a good or bad thing depending on your relationship with managers.

    Advice to Management

Let part time workers work more than 28 hours per week.

    Pros

The managers and supervisors are so nice. It's a really supportive environment. Around Christmas time the company sends its employees gifts cards to a restaurant that the employees can choose. I wasn't expecting it to be for very much but it was $25!

    Cons

Hours are limited. As a part time employee you can only work a maximum of 28 hours a week, but you usually get fewer than that unless you are a supervisor. I average 15 hours a week which is not enough. Also, the pay is on the low side.
