I have been working at Rollins full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

None. I was the top sales rep, with sales revenue over a million annually. I think I took home 45k?? Thanks a latte.

    Cons

I had the misfortune of landing at job at Rollins Customer Service center right after I graduated college. I was put on a "sales" team that had more meetings about "office gossip" than anything of real value. My manager at the time was unqualified to lead any group of people, and probably the most negative person in a leadership role that I have ever encountered. Our job security was threatened on a weekly basis, punitive action was practiced every day, and favoritism was at an all time high. The team even sunk to a low of deleting internal lead forms so their close ratio would be higher. Unethical, unbelievable, talent beware.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop isolating and bastardizing people in the field. They work much HARDER & LONGER than the folks at the admin office. After the Rollins brothers are too old to run the family business, change the culture from the top down. Pay your folks a livable wage.

I worked at Rollins full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

No pros that I could find; knew after 1 week that it was not the place for me.

    Cons

To have a department where cameras are in use very disheartening; the building I was in (RAC) was not handicapped accessible (how is that possible in 2014?). Got one positive comment in 10 weeks with the company, and I have over 30 years experience in my area of expertise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some training in positive communication skills and how to train employees!!!!

    Pros

getting a paycheck is about it.

    Cons

Men must wear a tie and no facial hair- stuck in the 50's. Obsolete.
Do you want Pest Control on Black Friday- or Are you thinking about that during the Thanksgiving Holiday? Rollins you must work black friday. Same with the day after Christmas if it falls on a weekday. Really Gary Rollins?

     * Ignorant upper and middle IT management
Obvious lack of higher education and managerial experience among upper IT management. Bullies and predators

     * Obviously planning to outsource IT constantly driving good people away

      * Obsolete systems -

      * Nepotism and favoritism are the rule within IT. Which leads to a very scared and dissatisfied workplace. Not judged by your skills, only thing that matters is to be liked by the right people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    RETIRE!

    Pros

Take home truck, some benefits, not much else.

    Cons

I work with managers that are incompetent, only looking out for their bonuses. Will write you up for minor infractions to show how "capable" they are. Cannot even contact mgrs. when needed for asst, only get voicemail. Threats to keep job by quantity not quality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cannot keep hiring new people without experience to cut costs. A lot of veteran techs will take happy customers with then to new company.

    Pros

There are some really nice people there; helpful, knowledgeable, and genuine

    Cons

Management has no backbone, will not stand up for what's right. Benefits are horrible. No promotional opportunities. Outdated technology that matches both buildings. If you want to work for an all white male conservative company, that shows no real concern for their employee workgroup, then this is the perfect place for you. If you're young, do not apply.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

All of the executive managers/vp should retire....period. It will never get better as long as they're around. This includes all directors and manager who have been there for five or more years.

I worked at Rollins full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Honestly cannot speak to anything positive other than receiving a paycheck.

    Cons

    Where to begin...
    1. Management is clueless and pawns on a chess board. No ability to think strategically; very reactive instead of proactive. They are unprofessional in their communication (both verbal and written), and no concept of leadership. Mediocrity is the status quo, highly regarded and rewarded.
    2. Rollins IT department is incompetent and ineffective. No processes or standards exist nor are they desired. In fact, when new, experienced resources attempt to introduce and/or suggest standards and common practices they are outcast (sheds too much light on the deficiencies of management). They throw around the latest buzz words circulating within the IT community but truly have no idea what they mean or to implement.
    3. People are placed in positions for which they are not qualified. Actual capabilities are not honored nor required, just the ability to pucker well.
    4. Benefits and corporate culture are archaic...very reminiscent of the 1950s...women must wear pantyhose, open toed shoes can only allow for the visibility of 2 toes, men must wear a tie everyday, 5 paid vacation days/5 paid sick days (really?!), no accommodations for IT to work from home, etc.
    5. The majority of the employee base are older, been there forever and thereby, have been "rollinized". Their ability to maintain as a "valuable" employee at Rollins means their skill set and knowledgebase is only applicable at Rollins and will not translate at any other company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are who you are and your stuck in your ways with no intention on changing...point accepted. However, refrain from onboarding young, innovative, motivated resources...you're wasting time. In that vain, either stick with hiring college graduates that you can mold and who will not question your methods or hire candidates on the precipice of retirement and merely require a paycheck.

I have been working at Rollins

    Pros

Execs do a good job keeping the company profitable, pursue growth through acquisitions. Good at maintaining technical reputation in the industry, marketing function is doing great work.

    Cons

Exempt employees are required to clock in at 8 am or face disciplinary action (suspension) for multiple tardies, no matter how many hours actually worked in a day (or on weekends, or responding to emails at all hours of the day or night). Senior managers are allowed to behave like spoiled children -- it's OK for them to have temper tantrums, harass people at lower levels of the company and foster fear and distrust within the organization with no negative consequences.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I am not the enemy, I am not a thief. You would not have to grow through acquisition if you actually leveraged the abilities of the people who already work here.
