I worked at Rollins full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There is a good amount of money to be made even with little to no experience

    Cons

Others were allowed to stay longer because either a male manager wanted to sleep with them or someone else in management liked them. It has little to do with performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The turnover rate is high because of how management is run and the interoffice relationships are out of control. Married men and women have sex with their subordinates and it's the worst kept secret. They date to keep their jobs.

    Pros

Good Training, Well known Brand name

    Cons

Too much fear and intimidation style management. Not open at all. Too much focus on the bottom line and not on the horizon. Military style management. Poor utilization of tech available.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It has been said that the biggest waste is not utilizing the talents of your people. Employees are your greatest asset . Stop with the blame game, empower your people and pay them. Get up to speed on your paperless pursuit, Managers bottom line is not the way to motivate people, you will burn them out and the bad stay behind. Adopt Salesforce as your CRM tool.

    Pros

Financially Stable as a company. There's a branch or location in almost every state in the US and Canada.

    Cons

The culture is very conservative which leads to a lack of creativity which is attractive to young employees. Leadership isn't up to par, revolving door and there is no team work among employees. The motivation to come in and give it your all isn't there when you constantly feel restricted and oppressed.

    Cons

Is one of those revolving door company in regards to employees. Consideration is difficult to be found when you try to explain motives behind actions. Needs to improve team working relations among their employees.

I have been working at Rollins full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

PROS: 1. It's almost impossible to get fired (also a con because lazy people like that!) 2. Stable and loyal to their employees (sometimes to a fault) 3. Most employees here are nice 4. You can create your own job if you are smart about how your efforts can contribute to the bottom line

    Cons

CONS: Ever want to fill like you are in 1962? Join this company and you're there. They need to update their policies, their environment, their dress code and their leadership team. Zero tolerance about working from home.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be loyal to non producers. Update your policies to reward individuals who contribute. Gain some flexibility with work hours, work from home policy, dress code, overall culture.

Current Employee - Pest Control Technician in Fort Pierce, FL

I have been working at Rollins

    Pros

I have had a few managers and all but one was a fair and knowledgable person. With all the emphasis put on cutting costs they do a pretty good job of getting the employees the materials they need. They are a large company so you get a certain amount of security from that in this market and they are consistantly growing, and now they are trying to get into other pest markets to expand a little more. Their training course is a little more extensive than most other pest control companies. They are always doing what they can to stay as competitive as possible.

    Cons

Below averae wages. Alot of overtime for salaried employess. Very cheap in every aspect of business. You have to pay a fee to take your truck home. Rolins expects the technicians to pay for some of the necessary materials. They are always complaining about gas usage because of the prices but i really dont know what we as technicians can do about it. Now they are also complaining about Nextel usage between employees. Employees are asked to work all hours of the day and night with no limit on the amount of hours per day with no overtime compensation. All in all they are so big that the individual will sometimes feel like just a number.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put your employess above your stockholders.
