I have been working at Roper St. Francis Healthcare full-time

    Pros

Great employees! Teamwork is great and overall the patients love Roper.

    Cons

Compensation seems to be lacking. Staffing ratios have changed and no change in pay.

  2. As a whole the company is well structured

    Pros

There are rarely any turn overs

    Cons

Poor managing is not attended to. The employer speaks of appreciation but within my specific department there was none. The pay scale should also be reevaluated.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the leadership roles in the central business office

    Pros

Roper is a hospital with a very friendly environment that delivers exceptional patient care. The organization works hard to make sure that its employees and patients are treated well.

    Cons

Flat organization with relatively lower compensation, and less opportunities for advancement.

    Advice to Management

I feel that the right people are not placed in some roles of important management positions. The challenges of the ACA dictate some difficult transformations which appear to be moving much too slowly at Roper.

    Pros

Wide variety of healthcare available to you, since they have acquired a lot of physician practices

    Cons

They are growing so fast, they can not keep up with everything...they seem to like doing things by the seat of their pants, and learning as they go which makes doing your job difficult.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and find out what you could do to make their jobs better and more efficient. There are real easy solutions to a lot of the everyday problems, that could really be helpful, if there was not so many chiefs that it had to go thru to get approved.

I worked at Roper St. Francis Healthcare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The organization is staffed with well-respected physicians; facilities are new and state of the art.

    Cons

You can be an experienced professional, and have precisely the qualifications required for a position, but unless the HR manager wants to put you through to the hiring manager, forget it.

    Advice to Management

Please ensure that your job candidates aren't pre-selected, and don't exclude well-qualified applicants just because they don't come from one of your contacts.

  8. Can be a great place if you go with whatever they throw at you but don't bother registering a complaint in HR

I worked at Roper St. Francis Healthcare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The Mission is pervasive throughout the hospital and there is a general feeling of everyone doing a good job with an active involved upper management

    Cons

Things are swept under the rug, a subversive undercurrent seems to trickle down to the real worker bees and there is a feeling of not being on solid ground. Employees and even managers are just up and gone with a big hush.

    Advice to Management

pay attention to the worker bees not just your middle managers who are over them.

    Pros

Roper offers a very diversified work enviorment. They are very active in community services.

    Cons

Management doesn't really take in to consideration the satisfaction of the employee verses the customer they serve, there's no median to balance out the quality of service provided to the employees who are just as valuable, and are a very valuable asset.

    Advice to Management

Entry level employees are just as important as a higher ranking employee in a supervisory or management position. There is a great deal of potential for revenue growth if they look to these entry level employees for answers to those resolving problems; since they are dealing with issues hand on, verses taken unqualified people answers to problems, that never get resolved, due to the fact, that their ideas are considered more weighty.
