I worked at Royal Bank of Canada part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly staff and customers,
    lots of training
relatively easy duties with the ability to continue learning constantly
    great experience

    Cons

When it is dead and no work to do for a CSR you can only read RBC literature, which gets a little old after a while.
    Sometimes very rote, boring
As a mobile CSR it was very frustrating to be on call because the shifts are often in the middle of the day and you can't make plans. Often difficult to get more hours if you need them.

I have been working at Royal Bank of Canada full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay for an easy job. Secure room for advancement within customer service roles.

    Cons

Repetitive work, Demand to increase company bottom line without compensation to agents, Soulless, Very hard to move out of 'customer service' roles in consumer banking to other divisions of RBC.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

RBC is already making billions of dollars a year, it needs to stop the revolving door of employee hiring and firing and relax constantly pushing employees harder. Most employees who have options (aren't strapped with children or completely without other skills) want to leave within 6 months. That's a pretty bad sign.

I worked at Royal Bank of Canada

    Pros

RBC is a very large and stable company that offers good compensation (but lower than most banks). The work environment is good, and there's lots of opportunity to try several different career paths. You work at one Canada's premier companies with major brand recognition, and for the most part the people are great.

    Cons

You need to find the right manager. RBC can be a great place to work, but with the wrong manager it can be very difficult and stressful! They also have very rigid systems and policies in place which is good as it can make the job very easy once you've mastered the system, just don't expect to be able to use personal judgment or think outside the box.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Trust your employees.

    Pros

Good benefits that were flexible and accomodating, especially for families
    stable job
    reliable hours
    customer interaction

    Cons

High interoffice politics, Sexist depending on location, Low feedback, incomplete training, sales, impatience

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remain objective, give full honest feedback, and support staff before there is a problem as opposed to accusatory after the fact.
