Positive working environment

Server (Former Employee)

I worked at Ruby Tuesday part-time for less than a year

ProsI enjoyed working at Ruby Tuesday. The coworkers were fun and management was responsive to staff needs. The food is good and the restaurant is clean.

ConsSome downsides of working at Ruby Tuesday were dealing with rude and messy customers. I also did not enjoy having to pick up cigarette butts in the parking lot or being given busy work during slow shifts.

I worked at Ruby Tuesday part-time for more than a year

ProsThe tips can be really good and it's a laid-back atmosphere for the most part unless really busy.

ConsAs with any service job, the customers aren't always peaches. Need to be able to work with rude customers.

Decent job

Server/Bartender (Current Employee)

I have been working at Ruby Tuesday full-time for more than 3 years

ProsYou can make money if you work hard and diligently. Be open minded to the suggestions management gives you on how to improve service.

ConsManagement puts to much pressure on bartenders.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe servers have food runners AND an expo and a host to open tables. They are making out on the deal. Th e bartenders are taking tables, to go orders. Running there own food, cleaning everything on there own. So if they forgot to ring a drink in don't you think it's understandable?- try helping out at the bar more often

Enjoyable if you get along with co-workers

Guest Service Coordinator (Former Employee)
Columbia, SC

I worked at Ruby Tuesday part-time for more than a year

ProsEasy to learn menu / computer system, great benefits, and a systematic approach that helps guide people through their shifts. The online scheduling also makes it easy for people to trade shifts with one another.

ConsHours are very unpredictable. For a server it depends on your average tip percentage, and for hosts and cooks it depends on how busy the restaurant is. The management primarily cares about the reputation of the restaurant. For example, a customer's food came out wrong and the kitchen was to blame, but the manager told the customer it was the server's fault.

Advice to Senior ManagementGood job overall, but there needs to be a little more emphasis on employee's inputs and values.

ProsThe management seems to really care about you. It's a very casual environment, and it makes you really care about supporting our stores. Good training for new hires.
