    Pros

Great management team. Great product. Great customers. One of the few Wi-Fi companies growing faster than market.

    Cons

While the future looks bright for this company, the stock price does not reflect it. May not be a place where you can get rich. Long hours, aggressive undertakings. Internal processes and tools are antiquated and growing pains abound. Not the start-up it was 4 or 5 years ago. No innovation or creative solutions in play. Just grind it out.

    Pros

Ruckus makes some of the best wireless products in the world. For the time being, Ruckus employs some incredibly innovative engineers who have worked tirelessly for the past 8-10 years in ensuring that the RF leadership of the company is rock solid. The Ruckus brand is highly unique in a field of WLAN vendors who all want to look and act like Cisco...the Ruckus attitude has been an exception in an industry of sameness.

    Cons

In the recent past, there has been a severe shift in culture, with new management hires working diligently to undermine the culture that once made this company great. Cronyism runs rampant, micromanagement is becoming pervasive, and the brand now aspires to emulate the most boring attributes possible. The organization continues to hire more managers, and the percentage of employee base that actually has the ability to accomplish or produce anything is rapidly dwindling.

    Advice to Management

Get back to your roots. Hire smart people who care more about the company than they do about their individual titles.

    Pros

Best performing wifi in the industry (but that's not enough) Smart people Strong sales teams (some are better than others) Fun culture (although that's slowly changing)

    Cons

Being a one trick pony makes it difficult to compete on large Enterprise deals with the likes of Cisco who provides end to end solutions. HP will be there too with the Aruba Acquisition. Benefits not up to par with rest of the industry. No 401K match. No floater Holidays. High co-pay Medical.

    Advice to Management

It is a tough road to make it as a wifi-only vendor and we are late to the game in licensed radio. Focus on getting acquired while there are still viable suitors.

    Pros

Have worked at Ruckus since around 2004 Like every company there's dysfunction but management actually cares about employees, their lives, well-being and job satisfaction. It's definitely a family attitude. But the bottom line is people want to get stuff done and have fun doing it. And they do. A lot of new hires from bigger companies don't adapt well to the culture, bring in politics and this can cause problems. But its one of the few companies I've worked for that, as its grown, has maintained that entrepreneurial and startup spirit. The jerks are few and far between and there are those that only care about their titles and who reports to them. But this is the exception and not the rule. Just look at their Corporate Marketing VP, ultra strange guy but funny and willing to do almost anything to help.

    Cons

Increasing politics and a creeping layer of middle management emerging. Communications from top down is discombobulated.

    Advice to Management

Give employees more recognition. That's all they want and it's free! Reward those who do the work not those who take credit for it. Focus and fewer markets and be the best in your focused market.

    Pros

Great products, lots of good "worker" bees.

    Cons

Everyone is brought in from the outside with big company mentality.

    Advice to Management

The people that have made the company what it is do not get credit. Pay attention to those making a difference.

    Pros

A great engineering team that prides itself on innovation and quality. An aggressive pace and the freedom to get your job done. No dirty tricks - the company does a great job at being fair, honest and above board. Decent benefits, competitive pay and positive work environment. One of the most eclectic group of senior execs that surprisingly works well together. One of the best balance sheets in the business for a company their size and in their market Is very loyal to their channel partners and customers.

    Cons

24 x 7 culture - You get emails at all hours - but at least you get responses. The company is likely going to be acquired because of their success, and then who knows what will happen. The stock is woefully under appreciated (even at a high EPS) and gets banged around by the effects of others in their market, even when the Ruckus is bucking the trend.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you do best, making a Ruckus in the marketplace and defying the conventional wisdom.
