Former Employee – worked at Ryder System full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Fair pay. We were off a day each for thankgiving and christmas.
Cons – Filthy driver facilities (restrooms and showers) at Ryder shops, which is where they force you to fuel the truck. Shops are under staffed, causing long waits at times to get repairs done. Drivers are a dime a dozen.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Former Employee – worked at Ryder System full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Large company with opportunities to transfer to other facilities. Good place to learn the business but be prepared to do much of the learning on your own.
Cons – Large company that doesn't know who's working for them. Surprised by the extent of the micro-managing that happens. HR department is used as a weapon.
Advice to Senior Management – Learn about the companies you invest in. You can't run everything like a trucking company.

Former Employee – worked at Ryder System full-time for more than a year
Pros – Good coworkers, can be flexible, employee events which keep morale up in a not so happy company.
Cons – Ancient company, use of old software and old business techniques, management is sketchy. People in high places do not know what they are doing.
Advice to Senior Management – Spend the money and update the technology within the company. Workers will appreciate it.

Current Employee – been working at Ryder System full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Better than unemployment.
Very casual culture: jeans and flips type of place.
Can set your own hours.
Cons – Low starting pay.
Advancements & merit raises are far and in between. If and when you do get a raise, don't be insulted if it's only 5 to 10 cents an hour.
Rising healthcare costs due to aging and fattening staffs.
Advice to Senior Management – Work on improving shop management nationwide. We are letting our customers down way too often. Get better quality employees by opening up the checkbook.

Former Employee – worked at Ryder System full-time for more than a year
Pros – Great Entry Level Postion for recent college Graduates
Cons – Working 50+ hours guaranteed. No work/life balance
Advice to Senior Management – No real training for Manager Trainee your pretty my a rental rep with a fancy title. They expect a lot but don't do enough teaching for you to be successful. Pretty much on your own to figure things out

Current Employee – been working at Ryder System full-time
Pros – They're a well known name. The outside perception is that Ryder is a "good company". Employees that have been there for years (20+ years of service is quite common) say its a stable company. The company sincerely cares about the community. There are a few little perks that I've not found at other South Florida companies.
Cons – The executive level is a good old boys network. White male dominant (European-Americans and fair skinned Latin Americans). Very, very conservative. Also, if you're an IT professional, run away. This isn't the company for you.
Advice to Senior Management – its one thing to speak about diversity. Its another thing to have women and minorities in executive positions. Fix the data/update the data systems and you'll get better quality data.

Current Employee – been working at Ryder System full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Virtual environment, flexibility with work hours. More concentration on results and performance versus hours worked in a day.
Cons – Gave only 3 stars mainly because the pay compared to other companies is lower. Depending on which division you work. Ryder can get political at times.
Advice to Senior Management – They make their customers fit into their business model, much like we were forced to buy bad cars from automakers at one time. Need to be more creative with transportation and supply chain solutions.
