Pros – Decent Salary, good coworker atmosphere.
Cons – Lousy, highly political middle management, with little to no qualifications. All song and dance, zero substance. Scratch the surface of their vast expertise, and there is nothing there. Managers are very good at sales pitches, and very poor on the technical side. They guarantee delivery of the moon, setting unreasonable client expectations. This ultimately results in renegotiation of deliverables after the contract has already been awarded. If you look through SAIC history, this is a very, very common scenario.
Advice to Senior Management – Hire qualified people for project management, with demonstrated real world experience, that junior employees who actually do the work can look up to. The status quo of moving SAIC senior management from position to position, without any regard for credentials, is destroying SAIC's reputation.
