    Pros

SAIC is extremely mature and its management has lots of experience in caring for its veteran employees and developing new talent. The company is involved in a huge number of projects in many locations, so anyone can likely find a role that they enjoy.

    Cons

The size of the company can be daunting especially for new employees, and the contract-based nature of SAIC's business model lends itself more to a project-centric employee identity rather than a feeling of fellowship with the company as a whole. Also, the contract work model means projects and jobs may come and go.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

Company benefits, strong focus on ethics. on-line training and certifications.

    Pros

SAIC provides great learning and intellectual growth opportunities through their world-wide project base yet maintains a casual work environment.

    Cons

Many technical employees are responsible for maintaining an average goal of ~95% time sold.

    Advice to Management

Attempt to cross-train existing, long time employees (10+ years of service?) to another business function where they may be more advantageous to the company before terminating.

    Pros

When first employed, I suggested that I could give brown bag seminars in my career field to interest other SAIC employees in getting certified for a lateral career move. Management approved my proposal and supported acquisition of training materials for it. After that, three employees made the lateral move, proving the concept.

    Cons

The switch to Leidos overshadowed continuation of creative efforts at corporate growth and development.

    Advice to Management

Be able to walk and chew gum at the same time. Keep up the tradition of forward thinking.

    Pros

Excellent benefits. Family friendly. Time off as needed was never an issue. Lower management looked out for their people as best they could.

    Cons

Poor communication between management and employees. Career path is convoluted at best. Told several times if I received a particular certification it would boost my career only to have the position taken away and given to a new hire. Highly driven by profit margins.

    Advice to Management

Stay in touch with your people.
