Great culture. Rapid changes require agility.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsSay offers employees flex time off and is very accommodating for personal needs. That said, because we are all given laptops and phones, there is a culture of always-on and always-accessible unless you go out of the country.

Great people -- creative, smart, intuitive.

Company quickly adapts and addresses industry trends, so there is always more to learn.

ConsCompany is quickly changing. We often say that the one constant thing about Say is change.

    Fun Culture, Chopping Block

    Strategy (Former Employee)
    New York, NY

    ProsFun culture.

Innovative company with some very talented people. The product is very fun to pitch and you get to be very creative in your approach to making decks and building solutions for brands.

    Free lunch Friday..

ConsI saw several people get laid off during my time at say. For a while it was weekly. Very sad for moral.

Upper management was very baring, did not keep promises for growth opportunities.

    Constant change.

Advice to Senior ManagementSure you know what's broken.

Fantastic People -- Intelligent, fun to work with.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe people at Say are engaged and intelligent! They're a pleasure to work with. Office is open to employees' opinions and ideas. You determine your own destiny.. not a ton of structure to work around.

ConsConstant change. Must be able to adapt and roll with punches. Internal processes are still a work in progress.. sometimes an internal struggle to get tasks accomplished.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to invest in people. Appreciate their strengths and train them in areas where they're lacking skills and/or experience.

A vibrant place to work with some of the nicest and smartest people I've ever worked with.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsSmart people, friendly atmosphere, great work/life balance.

ConsSome internal processes are still being ironed out, but that's the nature of a young company.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the employee training/growth, and the open communication processes. It's rare in the media world, and very helpful for morale and employee growth.

It's refreshing to work with such hard working & intelligent people.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsExtremely smart & hard working employees. Execs make smart decisions while being honest and open. Management has an interest in employee’s career development; always encouraging ways to expand upon skillsets. Fun activities planned, but nothing too over the top. Less office politics than at my past companies.

ConsThe NY office could really use a makeover (or a move). The benefits aren’t bad, but not amazing. (Also, confusing to understand at first.) Some departments can be clicky and not too friendly.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep doing what you're doing. Focus more resources on internal technology development.

Keen eye for design, strong technical chops, GREAT culture

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    San Francisco, CA

ProsThe culture at SAY is amazing. I can't say enough about it. Other benefits are:
    - A high level of design discipline and desire to create beautiful products
    - A very strong engineering team (including co-CTOs - both of which are hands on and have done big and meaningful things)
    - Reasonably strong alignment of goals (but they do change often - see below)
    - Amazing benefits (fully pay your medical, have unlimited vacation, etc.)

ConsThere are a lot of artificial deadlines and there are a lot of shifting goals. It's to be expected, as the company is still learning how to work in a different mode (as a media company). Despite shifting goals, they are often well communicated so people have a common understanding (a plus)

    A great place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat people, smart and fair management, good location, culturally diverse workforce, open minded and passionate employees. The good folks get rewarded. Very approachable management, generally down to earth. Doing really genius things with online advertising and content creation.

ConsShort lead times, frequently changing priorities, no 401k matching, vacation policy is good and bad in that it isn't tracked but but there is no accrued time either. Frequent re-orgs.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep working hard on connecting with employees.

SAY Media: An awesome fun place to work!

    Software Engineer (Former Employee)
    San Francisco, CA

ProsAwesome culture! Really fun place to work. Has great challenges and a lot of room to grow. Very positive and professional in nature. Overall great place. Not a high pressure enviornment, but people do work well and get done what is necessary.

ConsIf you are looking for employers to push you to the limit, SAY will not. They encourage you to grow rather than push you. This is good for some, not for others.
