I have been working at SITA full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

An abundance of online training courses. Good vacation policy. A wonderfully diverse and global staff, making it easy to make friends around the world.

    Cons

Senior management has little concern for staff, actively and publicly discounting staff concerns. Two day per week telecommuting was discontinued with little regard for increased staff travel costs, environmental concerns, staff stress and convenience. Results? Lower morale, lower productivity, lower management confidence, lower work/ life balance and a higher staff turnover. Senior management has made it clear the decision was final and no feedback from employees would be considered. The brain drain attributed to this asinine decision made with no feedback from HR indicates just how arrogant and uncaring Violante really is. Salaries are stagnant with annual increases of 1-2%.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open your ears and listen to the people who want to bring this company back to greatness and respectability. Your customers and staff are not happy.

I worked at SITA full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good diverse company with employees from all cultures/
The benefits (medical, dental, vision) and 401K are very good.

    Cons

Pay is stagnant, so get a good salary when you start.
    Very little opportunity for advancement.
Most management jobs are filled by external applicants.
Pockets of dysfunctional senior management that doesn't understand the business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reach out and listen to your employees. They have the actual work experience, and not the theoretical strategies and plans that you are pushing upon them. Use COMMON SENSE!

I worked at SITA full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good benefits...medical, dental and vision choices.. 401k

    Cons

Management can not make decisions... do not empower or really listen to project and program managers.... more interested in cutting cost and heads than doing right thing... HR a truly "company HR" rather than employee advocate....limited promotion opportunities ... throw people "under the bus" rather than fixing real issue.... senior management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to front line people, value their option they have more knowledge of the the real issues than you give them credit for...

I worked at SITA full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Plenty of room for improvement. It would be great if they actually let you fix things instead of miring down in headcount.

    Cons

Kings of bureaucracy. Starting with the hiring process, no negotiations are expected. They have draconian HR policies - probably a by-product of being a European company. Things like spending money to save money and ROI are foreign to them.

I worked at SITA full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great benefits and pay, decent location within Atlanta, near malls and restaurants, close to highway with multiple access points.

    Cons

Being an international organization, the culture can be difficult to get adjusted to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Adapt cultural awareness into the company's diversity plan.

I worked at SITA full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Learn the ATI space for other opportunities outside. Don't plan on career here. just a stepping stone.
Be a self starter, expect little support, make it on your own.

    Cons

Used by managers to fix blame. Red tape galore, low pay for performance, no raises. Constant re-org.
    Poor leadership.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change leadership at top. not lower levels and mid levels. Hire people who have some industry experience. Ask employees for their perspectives. Don't assume you know everything and that asking for advise shows a weakness.

I have been working at SITA

    Pros

They do work hard to try and make a work/home life ratio acceptable. SITA is also very good at giving employees time for volunteering with community groups

    Cons

The headquarters in Geneva is out of touch with what is going on in the rest of the company.
There is no accountability for managers who run over budget, over time, and do not deliver products.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instead of reorganizing the base so that you can trick the numbers and make your bonus, you should remove entire layers of duplicate or overlapping mgt positions

I have been working at SITA

    Pros

I liked the employees who actually do some work and the salary was in the market range.

    Cons

Constant reorganization and their inability to deliver a product and/or projects on time or with quality. Keeping people who aren't performing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management is where the reorganization should be taking place instead of at the work level. Hire competent management that have a track record of delivering products.

I have been working at SITA

    Pros

Benefits package is top notch. 401k match dollar-for-dollar up to 6%. Some departments actually do training. Some really talented employees.

    Cons

Watch your back. Political infighting and turf battles among senior management. Some people in senior contributor roles are acknowledged by management to be dysfunctional. Every year, employees step back and watch the reorg wheel turn. Constant travel with no recognition of its impact on the employee or their family. After outsourcing to India has become too expensive, they are now looking to the former Soviet block in eastern Europe.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire those known to be incompetent. Stick to a plan. Constant reorganization is not a plan. Customers hate dealing with SITA and do so because they have little other choice.

I have been working at SITA full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Looks good on the C.V. and currently they pay health insurance in some territories.
Great exposure to international teams and a very diverse set of skills (line management and customer facing members).
Initial pay is good but better negotiate hard on day one because you will quickly become a number when it comes to review in yr 2 and beyond

    Cons

If you are aligned with the little clique that seems to do no wrong and suffer no consequence of outrageously inward looking and self ingratiating policies you will do well.
You will occasionally come across true professionals who care about solutions and the people in their care, but this will be increasingly rare.
A staggering ability to embark upon organizational change every 12mths and then abort half way through leaving whole groups without the people they need and no way to hire due to a headcount freeze from GVA.
A HR system that is totally ineffectual and makes no effort to retain talent.
Senior managers with no experience in the fields they manage.
Get in and out while this dinosaur still survives as the pay and accountability around performance is poorly managed.
Invisible CEO unless you are based in Europe

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Walk the floor, be accountable and transparent, ...just start again with the HR department.
If you promise to do something like improve tools and policies then follow through and get out of the ivory silos and walk amongst the enormous pool of talent you already have.
Compliance is not commitment, think what is the problem to solve not what is the box to tick.
