    Pros

    Nice people to work with and a worth while technology in the field of education. There were some people with great idea's, some of which I hope we see in the future. Globally, it is a great brand in education and one that resonates with many people. Not everyone may know SMART technologies, but when you say you work for the SMART board company, most people have kids who have used it.

    Cons

    Company showed a lack of direction, mis management and stuck in the mud ways. Not sure what happened after the big shake up but the company seems to still be standing, smaller but likely better off.

    Pros

    Small company with light workload. Repeat jobs so not much in the way of surprises. Day shift, Monday through Friday. 8-5 with overtime on sixth day is common but on a volenteered basis for the most part.

    Cons

    No room for advancement and work became repetitive and boring after the few first month. Internal finger pointing when project does not go well.

    Walk the floor more often.

    Pros

    They have one of the best technology for interactive displays when it works
    one of the best software when it works
    partner with Microsoft a big boost
    Lync room system is good, not great

    Cons

    a lot of people in the company lack urgency
    poor product development and quality testing
    Buggy product that only gets fixed after it's released to public
    "frog in a well" mentality

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Need some serious overhaul of the product development and testing.
    reduce manufacturing cost
    Take your head out of your butt and start looking at the competition, it won't be long before customers realize SMART's focus is on revenue, not customer satisfaction.

    Pros

    Colleagues are very nice. Easy product to showcase, learn, and troubleshoot. Slight tech edge with 60wi unit. Flexible products that work well with other technology. Impressive when showing the intended capabilities.

    Cons

    Dealing with constant product RMAs. Customers grow entitled due to extremely flexible warranty. Email threads get passed around alot, involving more workers than necessary. Little information resources in regards to creating advanced system setups.

    autonomy, empowerment, large scoped roles, Canadian company holidays, seasoned management, cool technology, education focused, enterprise greenfield, cohesive strategy

    old SMART habits still too common, small company thinking, poor stock plan (none), no career paths, still too much dead weght

    Pros

    I work with great people who care. Unfortunately product often goes to market when it's not ready. It's a complete fiasco. Product is getting firmware updates in logistic centers and product development continues to make the same stupid mistakes.

    Cons

    This is a company that invented a market and was able to get away with a lot of poor quality issues. Now the market is catching up and the same culture persists. Something has to change or this company will be gone soon.

    Make the product development process far more rigorous.

    Pros

    Benefits were great. The summer co-op program which gives students opportunity to gain experience. Employees could choose, to an extent, what time they start work. This allowed for some work-life balance. Team members freely associated with each other.

    Cons

    Culture suddenly changed from encouraging employee growth to oppression-like operations. Some benefits such as on-site medical consultation was taken away from employees. Successful managers are those that strive to please the higher ranks. Honesty and objective views are not welcome.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    If you focus on equipping your employees with tools necessary to do their jobs as well as provide them a less stressful work environment, they will be more productive.
