I have been working at SRA International (More than 3 years)

    Pros

SRA is a great company to work for, in the realm of government contracting. The benefits and compensation are competitive and they have numerous contracts in my area (bioinformatics). This means that when contracts end, there is a good chance that I can join another project (and stay employed).

    Cons

This is not a criticism of SRA but rather a statement of the reality of being a government contractor. Contracts are finite in length and renewals are subject to the whims of the government. Being a political conservative, I have always felt conflicted about taking money from the government, even if I am working for it. That said, I consider my current project (in the area of public health) non-discretionary spending. Nevertheless, the gov't unexpectedly decided not to exercise their option for another year-- citing budget issues. So, unless I can find another assignment, I will be out of work in six weeks. I feel confident that won't be a problem but it is likely to require a move-- back to the place I left two years ago when *that* contract ran out!

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and try to get more public health contracts in my geographic area;-).

Forward-looking has the employee in mind

    Cons

They are chiefly doing military contracts

    Advice to Management

I think you should branch out to federal state and local government contracts you are limiting yourself by doing chiefly military contracts

I have been working at SRA International full-time

    Pros

The Competitive compensation is pretty good. Tuition Assistance is great incentive and it pushes the employee to get good grades (the higher the grade the more SRA reimburses the employee for tuition). 401(k)

    Cons

Some of the benefits have been cut over the years. Everything is combined when it comes to vacation/sick leave days.

    Advice to Management

Continue to keep the work environment comfortable for all. Continue to bring on qualified individuals that will contribute to the SRA vision. Doing a great job!!

    Pros

Very supportive environment. Project manager for this location is outstanding and a joy to work for.

    Cons

401k not matched until the end of the year. If employee terminates prior to the year, no interest paid out. :(

    Advice to Management

Make health promotion programs more available to your satellite sites, not just what is located in the DC area.
