ProsGood work life balance and benefits.
    Good training from knowledgeable supervisors.
Support for ideas if you got the right manager.

    ConsSlow and sometimes unclear progression.
Semiconductor industry has little room for growth without major restructuring. Need to re-focus in light of competition from China.

Advice to Senior ManagementRestructure properly and implement the right changes and not just for the sake of restructuring.

Very good company to work for

Design Engineer (Current Employee) Edinburgh, Scotland (UK)

ProsHuge international presence, many experienced engineers, very good equipment available. ST have their own technology line making them leaders amongst only a few semiconductor companies overall.

ConsEven though big company, which implies stable employment prospects, they tend to have vast human resource. That is often pointed to when cuts are required to improve financial position.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep relations to academia as an excellent source of qualified employees. Allow for more opportunities for knowledge sharing between sites through expatriate schemes.

    Possibility to learn and grow

    Staff Engineer (Current Employee)

ProsPossibility to learn a lot thanks to internal know-how and many different training programs. Your work is often linked to business and you may produce an important impact on products. Good culture and values.

ConsThe quite complex organization made by several levels ofte implies that too many people have to approve before starting an initiative. Compensations are often not directly linked to actual skills, seniority and produced results.

Been a great place to work shame it is coming to an end

    Senior Principal Engineer (Current Employee)

ProsGreat people with a lot of different activities and skill sets all in one place. Rather than moving companies for a change of role you just transferred internally.

ConsThere are a lot of people with too much power and not enough knowledge making company wide decisions and mandating things on others.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the faultless management of the company.
