I worked at STMicroelectronics full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Multi-cultural atmosphere. I learned so much in the work environment at ST, it has helped me a great deal moving forward.

    Cons

The CEO retired and the replacement was not there for the employees, things changed and the company values were not upheld.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to listen to your employees, take notice when one of them is unhappy or if the department is having issues. If you are pro-active then the group will be very productive. It's when concerns fall on deaf ears that employees get discouraged and then find work elsewhere.

    I worked at STMicroelectronics

    Pros

As a European company, their benefits are outstanding compared to many others. They still offer a pension plan, offer more vacation days that most, and their 401k match is not only excellent but is also fully vested from day one.

    Cons

ST has been steadily decreasing their presence in the United States starting with the closure of both of their large manufacturing facilities in Dallas and Phoenix followed by the closure of several smaller design centers. Not much prospect for future growth within the US.

    I worked at STMicroelectronics

    Pros

The technical level in ST gives you the possibility to grow from professional point of view, if you you want to.

    Cons

No matter how good the device are the management will screw the business sooner or later.
It's a company where the high level management never pays for the mistakes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take responsibility for the mistakes and make managers paying and not just employees.

    I worked at STMicroelectronics

    Pros

good pay, good benefits, a lot of paid time off, compressed work weeks, not a lot of overtime expected, education benefits are good.

    Cons

dealing with the manager is a very political, shift to shift competition and shift to shift blame is very high, good-ol-boy system is in play.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They need a better training program for the managers. The exit packages were very generous making all the employees happy.

    Pros

Multi national culture within organisation. Work closely with Europe and Asia counter part.

    Cons

Organization restructuring too frequent with increasing job insecurity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

KLA ACE XP used for retreiving fab data is outdated, waste of engineering resource & time to wait for data. Should replace with more powerful tool like JMP, spotfire to improve effectiveness in workplace.
