I have been working at STMicroelectronics full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Cadillac healthcare, Pension plan, competitive pay equals a great long term employer in the Americas. Flexible and lean organizational structure means the employees define a lot of what they do.

    Cons

Some job functions are poorly defined, and Italian culture trickles down into the Americas (not always in a good way)

    Recommends

    Pros

Culture, management was great, overall leadership was excellent. Always room for growth opportunities. Forward thinking mfg style. Always looking to improve.

    Cons

French and Italian based company. This ultimately led to the closing of all mfg sites in the US.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Should have kept the US mfg facilities.

I have been working at STMicroelectronics as an intern (more than a year)

    Pros

I had a great internship in The Portland Group, which used to be part of STMicroelectronics at that time. There were a lot of great people to learn from and interesting challenging tasks.

    Cons

Company is not in its best shape for last few years, therefore there are limited career opportunities. Hopefully that would change in the future.

I worked at STMicroelectronics full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Very nice company to work for. Great life/work balance. Encouraged to do innovative work. Travel to Europe.

    Cons

The present CEO has not been a success. The company is becoming very insular (in my opinion). From being one of the top 3 semiconductor companies it is shrinking into a medium sized power and analog products company.

    Pros

It has Great people. The pay is good. I have a sense of responsibility and acheivement in doing a good job.

    Cons

Site is closing, my opinion is that it is due to the CEO and French and Italian governments subsidizing the plants in ther respective countries.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have never had an issue with manangement, I have always been treated fairly and with respect. So nothing really too mention

I have been working at STMicroelectronics

    Pros

    Awesome coworkers
    Clean site
Lots of room for growth, if you choose to show initiative.
There honestly wasnt much I didnt like about this job.

    Cons

Site closures in Region Americas (Phoenix and Carrollton)

Sad to see this place closing. STM is losing a lot of great knowledge, and a great group of employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider what youre doing to this company before its too late. I wouldnt be surprised if they start slipping lower on the top 10 semiconductor sites in the next few years, due to bad business decisions to keep the stakeholders happy.
