Frustrated by not having enough floor training support for class sizes.

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee)
Eugene, OR

I worked at SYKES full-time for less than a year

ProsGood teacher for customer service class, opportunities to advance, many types of job choices after completing customer service representative job

ConsNot enough staff to handle the number of trainees they are attempting to train, training went in some cases from 3pm to midnight. Very long hours.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop changing the rules of the employment picture, changing shift hours, making 11 hour day, expanding work hours, added hard selling to the job as opposed to just mentioning product

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

it okay

Fashion Representative (Current Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I have been working at SYKES part-time for less than a year

Prosits at home
no commute
friendly coworkers that help you along the way

Consthe managment is kind of rude but some are nice depends on who you get really.
short breaks and preemployment was the biggest hassle
odd working hours

Advice to Senior Managementbe more open to advice about the company and have everyone on the same page. get etter benefits for those that work at home rather than in the call center and have better pay because we do alot for 8-9dollars an hour i think we actually deserve aroug 10.50 at least and good insurance

Ok, evaluation based on criteria not completely within your control

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee)
Ponca City, OK

I worked at SYKES full-time for more than a year

ProsThis was a work from home position, which I enjoyed,

ConsYour evaluated mostly on your ability to mostly turnaround Customers that were already dis-satisfied with the company and leave them with feeling completely satisfied or your performance was scored as less than satisfactory. Only 9-10 on surveys were satisfactory. This is not easy when customers are being incorrectly billed and receiving poor service

Unorganized

Retention Analyst (Former Employee)
Lakeland, FL

I worked at SYKES full-time for less than a year

ProsDecent place to work at, new Lakeland location is nice. The pay is above average and the training is okay, it should be more extensive though. They are quick about promoting the talented though.

ConsManagement is so unorganized, maybe they are being overworked. Everyone appears very emotionally fragile and on edge. Training is too short for the amount of software you will be dealing with all day, few understand it completely and those who perform well are quickly promoted to a different position, so the CSR pool is very weak.

Advice to Senior ManagementTraining should be more extensive and you should practice stricter hiring based on intelligence, so many people in the training classes come off as very uneducated and ignorant.

Nothing Great..but nothing terrible

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at SYKES full-time for more than 8 years

ProsWork from home opportunity that allows some flexibility. Bonus structure does allow for some advancement. Good stable environment for a call center professional to grow and develop

ConsTravel take too much time away from the family with little drive towards actual results, compensation is way behind the marketplace, direct manager is a difficult person to work with all of the time.

Underpaid, and jobs keep going overseas

Customer Service Representative (Current Employee)
Bloomsburg, PA

I have been working at SYKES part-time for more than 3 years

ProsGood work environment and local center management. Learn about different industries depending on the client. Answer phone calls and help people in the comfort of an office instead of somewhere doing hard labor.

ConsBasis for evaluation regarding raises is antiquated. Not many opportunities to move up. Most centers are in rural areas so no option to live in a fun, urban environment. Create positions and train people only to give those jobs to people overseas. Higher management focuses on profit, not people.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep jobs in America.

Not a bad place to work, many of the people make it positive!

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at SYKES full-time for more than 10 years

ProsAbility to work from home office. Benefits were not too bad and the people I worked with were a good team.

ConsSome of the Sr. Management is taking on more than they can handle and do not have time for their teams. They all tend to be extremely stressed out and too busy.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire better leaders that are good with people and developing them with a positive approach. Stop wasting money on unnecessary traveling.
