I have been working at SYKES full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Work from home opportunity that allows some flexibility. Bonus structure does allow for some advancement. Good stable environment for a call center professional to grow and develop

    Cons

Travel take too much time away from the family with little drive towards actual results, compensation is way behind the marketplace, direct manager is a difficult person to work with all of the time.

I have been working at SYKES part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good work environment and local center management. Learn about different industries depending on the client. Answer phone calls and help people in the comfort of an office instead of somewhere doing hard labor.

    Cons

Basis for evaluation regarding raises is antiquated. Not many opportunities to move up. Most centers are in rural areas so no option to live in a fun, urban environment. Create positions and train people only to give those jobs to people overseas. Higher management focuses on profit, not people.

I worked at SYKES full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Ability to work from home office. Benefits were not too bad and the people I worked with were a good team.

    Cons

Some of the Sr. Management is taking on more than they can handle and do not have time for their teams. They all tend to be extremely stressed out and too busy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire better leaders that are good with people and developing them with a positive approach. Stop wasting money on unnecessary traveling.

    Pros

Good people; great location(s); great presence in the community; great services to customers; great benefits.

    Cons

If Sykes had a necromancer on their payroll, they would have no problem working you to death, reviving you and then working you to death again.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on work/life balance. Expand your flex commute options.

    Pros

Great pay, considering you sit and talk all day. Nice coworkers for the most part.

    Cons

Strict, sometimes stupid policies and rules. A lot of childish drama and stuff, but that's probably everywhere.

    Pros

The pay is alright and you never have to work overnights. You get breaks and a lunch and the job is easy.

    Cons

If you go one minute over on a break you get wrote up. If you miss a day and don't make it up that same week you get another write up.

I have been working at SYKES full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

You get at least 40 hours a week.

    Cons

Seniority doesn't count when being looked at for other positions within the site. At this particular site some one from outside the site could be hired in a higher position that you put in for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To work closer with the team members they have and listen to what they have to say the representatives on the phones are the ones who knows what is going to be better for them.

I have been working at SYKES full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Friendly staff. Reasonable hours of operation.

    Cons

Not enough lunch time allocated for each representative. Unreasonable in reference to employee's needs to take off for a doctor's appt. or a sick child.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Human resources department should pay more and hire responsible adults for better quality in the work force, maybe then they can treat each individual better. Offer necessary time off for Doctor visits, and at least 45 min. for lunch.
