Current Employee – been working at Sage North America full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – The benefits are my favorite, and the people and culture my second favorite part of working at Sage! Five weeks paid time off is just fabulous!
Cons – As a publicly traded company, we are subject to the whims of our shareholders and the management that aims to please them. Ultimately, we are all just resources without faces or value other than the bottom dollar.
Advice to Senior Management – Incompetence is too often rewarded. Loyalty begets loyalty.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Sage North America full-time
Pros – Good pay and benefits, great coworkers, and provides work life balance by offering flexible schedules and opportunity to occasionally work remotely.
Cons – Could do more to recognize valuable employees and correct those who under-perform. Should do more to encourage career development and promote from within.
Advice to Senior Management – Practice what you preach. Return on employee investment, you have very intelligent and knowledgeable employees. Instead of keeping them tied to their current positions, recognize their potential and take time to develop their talents by promoting from within and retain them rather than spending time and money searching for external candidates.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Sage North America full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – It was common to hear it said that Sage is 'the biggest software company you've never heard of'. Based in the UK with offices all over the U.S. and the world, they own quite a few well-respected business applications. Excellent benefits that start on 1st day, including 3 weeks paid vacation per year, which increase with tenure.
Cons – Sage began buying existing software companies in the early 2000's and, for the most part, kept operations as they were, tweaking things here and there. I worked in 2 of their offices and both had completely different cultures; loved one of them. As Sage attempted to make improvements over the years, it was painful for many employees and partners.
Advice to Senior Management – Another comment heard often from partners, employees, and end-users: 'eat your own dog food'.

Current Employee – been working at Sage North America
Pros – Sage is a decent place to work. They are a large company going through a reshuffling of priorities which makes it stressful at times. However, individual business units do operate somewhat independently and until recently felt somewhat autonomous. They are striving to centralize as many processes and technologies as possible though, and that has made it feel a little more "corporate". Co-workers are smart, and friendly. They also support tele-work/remote work and are very supportive of a good work/life balance.
Cons – As mentioned, it's a large company trying to centralize as much as possible. As a result, some software product lines have been sold off, or identified as potential sell-off candidates which has resulted in lay-offs and lowering morale. Increasing pressure to be one brand makes it feel as if some of the autonomy enjoyed by business units/product lines is going to be a thing of the past. Salaries are slightly lower than average, and there haven't been wage increases for about 3 years now.
Advice to Senior Management – Recognize that the strength of the product lines that were purchased was in their brand, not the Sage brand and exploit that. Rather than strengthening the Sage brand, you are diluting the individual product brands and making it very confusing for customers. Recognize valued employees by increasing salaries, and doing away with bonuses that are tied so heavily to business performance rather than individual performance.

Current Employee – been working at Sage North America full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – While it's easy to become a number at large organizations, Sage seems dedicated to minimizing that feel. Decent benefits, policies, and well documented roles made it easy to know what you needed to do day-to-day to succeed in getting your job done. Sage has clear and concise core principles and the company and employees, generally, do a great job embracing them. Compensation was competitive.
Cons – Sage, as may be expected from a large public company, has traditionally been driven by short term focused, low risk decisions. For a software company, this has stifled the pace of change and innovation to a point where employee and company growth has been lacking. While this seems to be changing, investment in new product development, IT support, and organizational improvement is still lacking relative to other software companies.

Former Employee – worked at Sage North America full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Sage has a great team. Your co-workers will be smart and talented, so there is good opportunity to learn from them and grow. The company has nice offices and offers a rather casual environment. While the name Sage is not so widely known in the United States, the company has a strong presence in Europe and is well known there. With about 13,000 employees worldwide, you can expect to get solid software industry experience.
Cons – There are various Sage offices in different locations in the United States and often, and as a result, one might not have the opportunity to work closely with other co-workers. Some office locations offer better facilities and options to employees such as on-site gym.
Advice to Senior Management – Make yourself more present at the different office locations.

Former Employee – worked at Sage North America full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Really good people which makes it fun and interesting. Good benifits as well.
Cons – Some Micro management which isn't a bad thing but can be restrictive in a development house.
Advice to Senior Management – Be Honest with the employees. If your employees look good they will make you look good. Plus Mangergers should get reviewed by they employees Sage needs 360 reviews.
