I have been working at Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics full-time

    Pros

I enjoy the culture and people I work with. I feel I have a lot of autonomy in my role which speaks volumes.

    Cons

Training is severely lacking, which unfortunately, is a key part of one's road to success in any job.
We seem to just "throw" people into their jobs and it's sink or swim. This needs to be worked on and management is made aware of the issue.

    Pros

Most employees were decent to work with.

    Cons

Extremely dirty work environment, crazy overtime for hourly employees, and questionable staffing. Production manager is very self important and tries to use intimidation.

I have been working at Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Easy work though requires a lot of attention to detail. No required OT during the week. Benefits are good but can seem a little pricey.

    Cons

Overtime can get overwhelming on weekends. Can have stretches of a month with no day off but have never had to work holidays since I've worked there. Supplier problems sometimes seem to never be the issue for parts not getting finished on time.

    Pros

    Working environment is fine
Training is constant and usually good
    Mentoring is a established program

    Cons

    Salary seems below market
    Progress is slow
No matter if you are technically good; you must be a good "networker", otherwise your career will not grow...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Place is losing too many skilled people and you are hiring people with no experience in the area.

I worked at Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics

    Pros

Worldwide scope of an organization with great technical products and processes that can challenge technical people as well as good benefits overall.

    Cons

Overall management handling of local employees is poor; continual changing of General Managers who always have to "make their mark" in order to move themselves up don't have a clue typically about the business unit creates a political atmosphere where most middle managers have to try to fit into the new manager's thinking to survive. The French obsession with head count, rather than investment dollars, creates a more haphazard work atmosphere as well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change your overall productivity measures so that each manager can have P&L responsibility based on investments and not just on head count.
