    Pros

    I was an employee of one of their Cosmo Prof stores. There are good incentives to sell certain product lines, LOTS of free hair products.

    Cons

    Each week is spent unpacking boxes that have been randomly packed and have absolutely no sense of organization. You are required to check each box (sometimes over 50 for a high volume store) in on a packing list that has been printed on an 80's era dot matrix printer that is constantly low on ink. Then you restock the shelves on the sales floor and try to help hair stylist find products that they should already know how to use as they, not us, are licensed hair stylist. If you enjoy feeling dumbed down, please work here.

    Pay your associated more, find ways to make the job less monotonous.

    Employee samples, Great customers. Occasionally had a good District Manager.

    Cons

    No structured leadership. Always on duty even when not on the clock. Poor employee training. Lack of customer respect

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management doesn't care about it's employees, if you take maternity leave be prepared to have that reflected negatively on your attendance record. Also they will only listen to you if you make your ratios, if you are struggling they WILL NOT help you, instead they will shut down any ideas you may have to improve business because free thought is highly frowned upon at Sally Beauty. You have to be a "yes man" to work there and if you are a Woman who cannot or chooses not to wear makeup than you will be pressured to "girl up", or they will just tell you "You could stand to wear a little makeup and put on some heals, look like a lady". Also if you are not a cosmetologist the chances of you getting hired are slim to none. I had to turn down a lot of great candidates because the were not licensed, that alone seems illegal and discriminatory.

    Cons

    Extremely outdated registers and security cameras. All stores have a huge theft problem among the public shopper. Corporate say's its employee theft but the fact is it's less money for them to point fingers at employees then to upgrade their anti-theft systems. (iF YOU WANT TO CALL THEM THAT)
    Unwilling to pay a decent living wage , however expect you to do so much and put pressure on you to sell products, store discount cards, etc.For what they expect ,they should be paying their employees a start rate of $13-14 an hour. This corporation has a VERY HIGH turn over rate with workers. You just cant live on $8.50 an hour. They always leave to seek a better living wage.

    Get your head out of the sand and realize its the public stealing your products and profit. We are not trained in security and you can not expect us to put ourselves in harms way confronting your in-store thieves. Employees have been spit on, pushed, shoved and threatened . Pay us a decent wage and maybe we will care.

    If beauty products are your thing there's nothing better than this

    The pay is less than ok for the work expected and the way the upper level treats the employees is disgusting!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Employees have lives outside of work. We work to live not live to work. When the expectations are set so high and after being an employee watching the Sally's news declaring at least one to two stores million dollar stores as often as you do you can afford to care for your employees a heck of a lot better! I can't speak for everyone but I know our DM needs improvement as well as the human recourses department (I'd love to give you her name) who I can say was unhelpful and completely harassing in my case. After my experience with this company I would never work for again and advise all I know to avoid as well at least until it undergoes a major makeover

    discounts are nice, customers were awesome, free product every month

    Cons

    sallys only cares about themselves. if you have an issue in the company, then you might as well keep it to yourself cause they wont care one bit. I have never experienced such an unprofessional manager in my life. i love working retail, but this is somewhere i would never suggest for someone. I would work 50+hours a week and the manager refused to put me in the system as full time so i wouldnt get my benefits, she would steal company time to get high, she took advantage of her power way too often, NEVER did floor resets or merchandising when its mandatory for her, and on top of it all when i reported it to hr they called it an "investigation" but in reality all they did was call her and ask questions. HORRIBLE

    PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THE WORKERS HAVE TO SAY. Maybe you wouldnt have 3 employees quit all in one night if you actually cared about how they feel instead of yourselves.

    Manager uptight , too much micro management from top. More rules then you can shake a stick at.

    I was a manager from competition for 10 yrs.plus and retired because they over managed stores.

    The job is really easy and you get free items every month ,also if you like to shop at Sallys the discount comes in handy.

    Cons

    Con are the management at sally is really poor. They don't care about their employees. Sally believe that they can hiring within a day, so they don't care about firing you. All sally cares about is sales and they don't care if a employee is being mistreated, when you call to report sexual harrassed or being mistreated they plot to fire you or make you quit.Sally's is a company that many employees don't stay at for long because they have unprofessional management and the company it self is full of unprofessional ,sneaky, conniving ,backstabbers as management and district managers.And my manager there would come to work every day high from smoking weed and was rude to customers, also when the customers called to report Sally's didn't care.And I can honestly can say I regret working with Sally's and ever being an employee for Sally' s beauty supply. And the pay is not that great

    Horrible district manager that talked behind everyone's back, long hours, little pay, had to use own vehicle for bank deposits and to do salon delivers so added extra miles on my car with no compensation. Very disappointed with the company!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    My advice, don't let your district managers talk about employees to other employees behind there back. Very unprofessional. Having a store car for doing delivery sales would also be nice and having more time off on holidays.

    great hours especially if you dont have a store manager

    Cons

    Working with Sally Beauty Supply was a very demanding, unattractive, and awakening place. I never truly experienced terrible management until I worked here. My store at least was constantly having store managers leave due to their DMS and TMS having so many disagreements that lead to total chaos. Went through 2 store managers while I was there and when I was first hired 1 was leaving.
