    Pros

-hours don't run too early, or too late -you get to work with nice girls -product samples are a fun perk -vast majority of the customers are perfectly nice people and are fun to help -you can become an expert in beauty product knowledge through working there

    Cons

-i wish the schedule could be basically set instead of changing every week, as a part time employee, i'm unable to make a living off my salary there (obviously), but it would be nice if they would make it easier to set your schedule versus having unpredictable hours so that part time employees who need to make a living could get a second job more easily. -pay is quite low for the amount of work you are really doing, the associates hold the company up and do almost everything for the company. i think they should pay us more competitively. -there are numerous sales quotas to meet and it can be somewhat stressful. they write you up if you don't meet your quota... i think a better option would be giving bonuses to those who go above their quota. i think people will work harder for a bonus than they will to not be punished. and also, it causes some of the employees to not care about customers who are on a budget, which many are, so it doesn't seem healthy for the company overall.

    Advice to Management

try to get input from your employees on the schedule... since you have to be 18 to work at Sally Beauty, many of us are having to support ourselves and it may be way too difficult to do that with an erratic part time schedule. be more compassionate and flexible about that fact.

    Pros

get paid time off (after a year), really easy for cosmetology students starting out, raises are okay

    Cons

takes a year to get pto, raises sometimes require going above and beyond contacting management to get, they always seem to have problems finding reliable people so it leaves a lot of stress on associates who are actually there

    Advice to Management

there needs to be more focus on training and "feeling involved" in the company, which would lead to happy workers and loyalty

    Pros

Discounts on products, free promotion products, meeting new people.

    Cons

You are required to work 47 hrs but you always end up working over. Upper management is no help at all. They only care about money and you making company goals. My store only has a certain amount of hours to schedule employees in which my full time person takes half of them. And when she goes on vacation I have to work double my hours. And the pay is NOT good at all. You can't live off this salary especially if you have a family.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees and pay them more. As the manager you're expected to be a part time worker, full time worker, manager, loss prevention, and cashier. It's not worth it.

    Pros

Good benefits, 4% 401k matching, can easily move up to a store manager position from sales associate, job stability

    Cons

In order to run a successful store, the job has to rule your life, very difficult to move up once you are a manager, nearly impossible to terminate problem employees if they've been with the company for a long time, favoritism, impossible expectations, nearly nonexistent yearly raises

    Pros

Sally's has a history of being a good, stable, and profitable company. The corporate facilities are very nice, and include a subsidized cafeteria. The company offers a good work/life balance with average benefits. Above all, the company's greatest assets are the people that work there. The corporate headquarters house around 700 employees, who are friendly and pleasant. If you are a permanent employee, you can expect an average 3% raise each year at the beginning of the new fiscal year. Managers and above are given a bonus based on company earnings and title.

    Cons

The company is going thru a lot of executive leadership changes. A new (outside) CEO was named at the beginning of 2015, and many older executives are retiring and are being replaced with outside leadership. Along with the leadership changes are changes trickling down throughout the company. It's yet to be seen if those changes will have a positive or negative affect on the company. The age old advice of "dance with the one that brung ya" is not being followed at SBH. It could make SBH much better, or it could be the beginnings of company instability. In the IT department, many changes are underfoot. The company has always had the philosophy of building their systems in house. That offers the ability for the company to be very reactive to changes and needs in the marketplace. Under the current leadership, the company is transitioning into a philosophy of purchasing vendor systems. The in-house developed systems are being replaced, and the company is expecting to change their business practices to adapt to the new systems.
