I have been working at Sam's Club part-time for more than a year

    Pros

I liked the idea of working with people and trying to help them get closure whether it is returning merchandise or problem solving.

    Cons

I don't like that I don't get enough hours like I had asked for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Can the scheduling be done in a way that it would accommodate the employees involved.

I have been working at Sam's Club part-time for more than a year

    Pros

I love the atmosphere and all my managers. It's easy to get and pick up hours and there's plenty of opportunities to advance or move to another department.

    Cons

If you're a cashier the COS are really hard about selling pluses and upgrades.

I worked at Sam's Club full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Loved working with the members, That made it worth going in each and every day, to get to know them on a first name dasic, to have them looking for you each time they come in

    Cons

Managment didnt really care about their employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care more about the people working for them, they have familys to take care of, and their work daily wondering when the day come when they have to worry about their jobs, because managment tries to find many ways to get rid of certain people, to bring in the people they want

I worked at Sam's Club full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good pay and benefits are possible while improving your customer service skills. There are several opportunities to learn and great incentives if you are willing to work hard.

    Cons

Schedules are not always consistent week to week, and as is with most businesses who directly interact with customers, rude comments may be a day to day experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider lengthening the training. Associates who are better prepared with provide better outputs. Consider the voices of the smallest individuals even if it appears to go against the traditional way Sam's has operated over the years.

I worked at Sam's Club full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Benefits were my main perk. I also enjoyed the diversity of the employees.

    Cons

The one thing I got tired of was the constant push for Plus memberships or credit applications.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate the regular memberships as much as the Plus. I feel the member is pushed too much to upgrade.

Former Employee - Team Leader  in  El Paso, TX
Former Employee - Team Leader in El Paso, TX

I worked at Sam's Club full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good pay and great people to work with. Benefits are decent, if you can get them. Hiring process is relatively fast, faster when they're in desperate need of bodies.

    Cons

Often the employees are spread really thin to maximize profits, and pad numbers so corporate doesn't bring down the thunder on the management team. Also it is very difficult to get a full time position unless you're willing to work overnight. There doesn't seem like there's a lot of upward movement so most of the full time employees are long term(10+ Years) and aren't going anywhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure you are willing to allocate duties and not micromanage team leaders and lower management. The best managers are the ones willing to take the heat if the team fails not deflect blame onto others. You still come off as a failure.
