    Pros

Benefits are great! Retirement is great! Work hours are not extreme and typically they want employees to balance work with their personal lives.

    Cons

Pay is close to half of what you would get in industry! This is the number issue with state jobs, in additional, state jobs are the least paid in comparison to federal and city.

    Advice to Management

Find ways to pay self-motivated employees more, so that they don't leave.

    Pros

Benefits and stability of job are the best reasons to work for SJSU. Give yourself a little time to accrue PTO and use the Health and Dental insurance and you'll be very thankful.

    Cons

Academia and all of its short comings. For some that isn't a problem, but for those who seek to progress their career, it might be difficult to do so depending on your position. Don't expect to see an overwhelming sense of pride.

    Pros

On campus position, laid-back environment, looks great on a resume. Sometimes you have the opportunity to do homework during slow times.

    Cons

At times the tasks can get repetitive or boring. Compensation is very low - minimum wage. It is not a very interactive environment.

    Advice to Management

Find ways to motivate students to do more in their positions - not just social media students. Graphic design and administrative students as well.

    Pros

Gained experience in graphic design while having the flexibility to change my schedule when class projects were too hectic. Great community of faculty and staff members, as well as students.

    Cons

There honestly weren't many cons about working for San Jose State. The thing I wish I could change was the amount of hours I worked, but the budget didn't really accommodate.
