Fair job, if you can keep it

    Test Operator (Former Employee)
    Manchester, NH

ProsContract manufacturer that gives you flexible opportunities for cross training in different areas. Company is fairly consistent in keeping the employee base up to date via "town hall" meetings on quality issues and financial prospects.

ConsToo much change over in workforce personnel via layoffs. Upper management very distant to the average blue collar employee (tone deaf), and reluctant to spend the money needed to improve the quality demanded in production by failing to commit to upgrade/replace aging equipment.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen employees go 5 years without a standard annual merit increase in base pay, company-wide morale is not positive. Also, the only people who earn or share in bonus money opportunities are upper management; the average employee never receives this consideration. This devalues and under-appreciates the often hard work effort given on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis by the average (non-exempt) employee.

    OK

    Field Service Technician (Former Employee)
    Manchester, NH

ProsEx-lent working personnel, Supervisors on production floor just need a wisp to get people to work harder, allot of processors could have been designed in favor of employee instead of directors and manager's pockets as Bonuses for production exceeded and above totals expected, their compensation to the employee was Ice cream while boss reflects on production numbers.

    You get the picture

ConsMulti functions but after 7 years there, 2 temp and 5 as an employee, in the Manchester IT you need to be part of the click, or if you opinion your self, you go to the dog house by getting cleaning IT closets, instead of using the knowledge personnel to employment their ideas for faster production floor process, but manager rather not rock the boat.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop Micro-Managing, and treat your employees with care, you'll get more in return

    Work and more work

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Fremont, CA

ProsLots of different projects to work on. Lots of different areas to work in. You gain lots of experience fast.

ConsYou get to work 50+ hours a week doing thing over and over. There is never enough time to do it right but there is time to do it again. Office has not been remodeled since the 70s.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet enough help to do things right the first time.

Working for Sanmina-SCI definitely had its ups and downs!

    Shift Supervisor (Former Employee)
    Owego, NY

ProsThe pay was fairly good for the area, the benefits were good, although expensive.

ConsThe company swayed with the wind. One day there were layoffs, a week later it was hiring temps to take their places. The atmosphere was tense as everyone worried about being the next to lose their job.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to appreciate the people who do the work on the floor. They are the ones who make the product that you sell.

It is all about the top line and bottom line.

    Management (Former Employee)
    Phoenix, AZ

ProsThe management at the site I worked for was great.

ConsThe owner and board of directors only cared about the top line and bottom line which we were told directly in web cast company meetings.

Advice to Senior ManagementGreed will get you no where.

    Program Manager (Former Employee)
    San Jose, CA

ProsIt has the most update and advanced equipment and also has good data base for all the training material and company system.

ConsIt seems never end to have the laid off, almost every quarter or every other quarter. You will never have the job security to work over there.

Advice to Senior ManagementTo reduce the frequency of laid off and give more respect and profit sharing to the employee.

    A question of caring

    Program Manager (Former Employee)

ProsSome very good people to work with who do care and basically keep the place going. Work Life balance somewhat encouraged with some flexibility.

ConsNot a lot of support or caring for employees by management. Leadership is seriously lacking as low performers essentially hide out, while strong performers take the load and grief.

Advice to Senior ManagementShare some of the bonuses for employee hard work and sacrifice and actually appear to care about them

ProsGood environment if you are Tamil or Telegu or have god father.

    ConsBad and very low pay

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to look into the market and pay at least average salary

    Poor employee moral

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Manchester, NH

ProsLarge company with many opportunities. In any such large organizations the key to the interview/offer process is determining weather you are in a healthy department or not

ConsEfforts to turn things around were made but when the requirements for change were presented and were challenging, management decided to go for short term gains to make it "Another few months" rather then invest in long term improvement benefiting themselves and their work force.

Lousy benefits and infrequent raises so do not work here.

    Material Analyst (Current Employee)
    Fremont, CA

ProsEmployees at Fremont are easy to get along with.

ConsLousy benefits and infrequent raises so do not work here.

Advice to Senior ManagementHow about a well-deserved raise that's been delayed for 3 years?
