    Pros

    * Great people to work with
    * Pay initially is nice.
    * 401k match
    * Nice benefits
    * Environment to learn all sorts of different technologies
    * Comp time for any night/weekend work

    Cons

    * Lack of competing pay after a while.
    * Bonuses / Raises seemed to be few and far between.
    * Work / Life balance was a problem at times for sure.

    Advice to Management

    * Hire more people to support the additional after hours / weekend work. This would cut down on the burn out.
    * Compensate the good workers to prevent them from leaving.

    Pros

    The members of the rank and file are very fun to work with. There is a lot of talent at that company at this level. They are laid back, work hard and tend to enjoy what they do. You can learn a lot here in a short time.

    Cons

    The management layer is bloated and somewhat unorganized. Not a clear vision on how to execute a company vision. Part of this is attributable to a bit of blurred vision coming from the C and VP level post CTL 'merger'. But even prior to that this problem existed to some extent.

    Advice to Management

    Shake of the large telco influx, get back to building slick products the market wants and move on. Empower the employees to take some risk so you're not perceived as being slow to react.

  7. Happy...when we were Savvis

    Pros

    Savvis had a relaxed atmosphere with great talent. The pay and benefits were competitive and there were many growth opportunities.

    Cons

    Savvis was acquired by CenturyLink and we are now a much larger company with a much smaller presence in St. Louis. Because of the acquisition, there is a trend for employees to find better opportunities outside of the company and a lot more overall dissatisfaction.

  8. Location is the key...

    Pros

    Good work/life balance, Mid-to-Senior level managers that listen, great collaboration between co-workers within business units. Cxx level management is not tolerating poor performance and has been putting poor performing players out to the pasture which has been long overdue.

    Cons

    CTL gave us all the extra-costs of being CTL employess (taxed benefits, higher health ins premiums, less PTO) while deferring any benefits that might offset the higher costs. A lot of wasted money spent on projects destined for failure. Location is key to finding the good places to be. Savvis' business units try to work autonomously and their competing goals and legacy processes cause friction between them.

    Advice to Management

    We're way to eager to hold on to old technology that has gone past its expiration date. Additionally we're throwing too much money out the door to reinvent some tools just to turn around and buy other companies that already figured it out. I do see a lot of hope with our current direction

  9. Overall a pretty good working experience

    Pros

    Many of the Agile Team Members are very highly qualified. They are willing to help you understand many of the development elements in the upcoming Sprints.

    Cons

    Sometimes management needs to allow the workers more chances to recommend process improvements. It is sometimes difficult to figure out who to talk with.

    Advice to Management

    Work with the teams - ask the members for more ideas. Track all suggestions and provide definitive answers (Yes, No, Maybe).

    Pros

    Great People. Great Technology. Working as best they can to take the technology and services to the next level.

    Cons

    Hugely understaffed with the amount of work and growth they are experiencing. Products are slow to market and with all the features needed due to overloaded staff.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more people and fast. Too much Work in Progress, prevents focus to get work completed and provide high quality.
