I worked at Schneider National full-time
Pros – Cafeteria has a decent salad bar. Some nice people. Leadership pretty much lets you do your job.
Cons – Horrible technology will make you want to pull your hair out. Systems don't work. Pretty much total chaos all the time.

I have been working at Schneider National full-time for more than a year
Pros – Business model should improve as the economy improves. Company has potential for growth. Private held company provides some operational flexibility.
Cons – New associates and new ideas are unwelcome. Company is too heads down on one large project to improve anywhere else. Many employees have left and many current employees are looking to leave in February 2013.
Advice to Senior Management – Put some leadership into Information Technology. Remove the politicians that are focused on themselves over the company's best interests.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I worked at Schneider National full-time for more than a year
Pros – After having this job, everything else I will do seems easy! Easy to network with individuals across the company.
Cons – Huge work load, poor management and support at Dallas OC, no work/life balance, accountabilities include things that you can't control, requests are never followed up with, Oracle based software is not user friendly, no one that works in the division cares about anything but themselves (not a team environment)
Advice to Senior Management – Fire all management at the Dallas, TX division and get someone that actually can lead people. OM has a bad attitude/hard to get along with and will never step in to assist when short staffed; DM lacks knowledge on the software and never keeps his word on anything.

I worked at Schneider National
Pros – Good medical insurance, they will train new drivers dependent on economy. Cafeteria in Fontana has excellent food but high prices.
Cons – Poor unsafe old equipment, management pretends to push safety. Poor unfair compensation schemes always changing. Avoid employment and/or investment, don't walk - run.
Advice to Senior Management – Schneider National once attracted top quality safe drivers and had an excellent reputation nationwide but this has all gone since Don Schneider retired.

I worked at Schneider National full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – good benefits and good pay
Cons – don't care about associates, used to care until Don left. will not stick up for you when you are working your tail off, don't recognize the managers who work really hard for them, don't care if you save them money, don't care if you have safty record and broke many records, they will still let you go. You are not listened to, deosn't matter how long you have been there you will still get the boot,
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to your associates and not the co. like walmart before you let go of a great employee. Your company will and is going down hill quick if you don't start treating people like human beings instead of a number. You let go of a great person and now it is going to pot.

I have been working at Schneider National
Pros – SNI operating centers are welcoming. The clean showers, and free laundry facilities are appreciated. The fuel desk staff at most of the operating centers are friendly, helpful, and often go above and beyond to help drivers passing through.
Cons – Team leaders constantly talk about how important it is for drivers to "communicate, communicate, communicate" but they do not communicate with us. Insurance benefits are far below mid-market for the industry. Bonus pay is impossible to earn unless you are willing to sacrifice personal comfort and time at home. I was told I would run at least 2500 miles per week and often barely get 1000. Two extra days out this past week got me up to 2300. No raises to drivers who do not earn two quarterly bonuses, and no pay for empty miles home. So dead heading me 90+ miles home counts as out-of-route miles which will (along with idle hours to stay cool enough to rest during breaks or long waits for loading or unloading) disqualify me for any bonus. Hold times on the phone can often last 15 to 30 minutes. Phones calls are routed to support shift too early each day. Customer information is too often lacking correct information such as contact phone numbers, whether or not parking is allowed on site, appt. times are given for companies who work on a fcfs basis, and on and on it goes.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop over loading our leaders. Too many of them complain of the increased work load with no increased compensation. Too many really good people have been let go and replaced with lesser qualified, lower paid, "yes" people. We have been told "this is no longer a family business". None of us believe you when you say "safety first" or "we appreciate our drivers". Actions speak louder than words. Our boards push us to give up time at home so they can make their numbers and earn their bonuses. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Whoever wrote that the one "con" of the company is all the inside promotions that then seem to cause large turnovers in certain departments is totally unbelievable. The huge turnover comes from being lied to about everything.
