I worked at School District of Philadelphia as an intern

    Pros

Amazing colleagues. Amazing department. Loved every moment there. Marvin (direct of Procurement) really is interested in your professional development. Pay is good for the comparably light workload.

    Cons

Some of the other departments aren't... very competent. And Procurement frequently winds up cleaning up their messes because they ARE competent. Which is good in a way, but also takes you off your work.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the amazing job. I have only great things to say about the entire Procurement team.

I worked at School District of Philadelphia full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company had great benefits, retirement funds as well as Professional Development Programs to improve my skills, for my families.

    Cons

Not being able to get a student in with special needs to get them ready for kindergarten. (If the center is full. )

    Advice to Management

I am a hard worker, always early and ready for work on time, I am a full time student that does not interfere with my work, as well as raised a family and I make sure I find time for church. I balance my life in order to keep the stress levels down. I think I did a great job in the past twenty plus years.

    Pros

The: work hours, tuition reimbursement, professional/development opportunities, benefits-rewarding work and a great thing to have on your resume!

    Cons

Co-teaching (sometimes); only because of varied education backgrounds/life experiences, or lack of, but that is in any job.

    Advice to Management

Offer higher compensation to Paraprofessionals who continue their education, not just a "capped" tuition reimbursement amount.
