Great company to work for, I worked with awesome people, the product quality was second to none and the pay was good.

Flexible work environment in the corporate office but little to no opportunity for advancement.

I have been working at Schwan's

    Pros

Flexible work hours and has a laid back atmosphere. My work-life balance is very good.

    Cons

The corporate office is very political and if you would like to advance in your career you pretty much need to switch companies to make that happen.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let employee's have more of a voice.

I have been working at Schwan's full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good company since it does not follow stock tends

    Cons

Micro Management. They do not allow the managers to think independently or want to try new ideas to grow the business

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You hired people for there abilities. Let them use them. Also open you mind to advertising. If it didn't work there would be no adds for anything.. Quit changing compensation for sales people every 12 months. If it is not right fix it and move on.

    I worked at Schwan's full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The customers were what kept me going for over 20 years! I took care of them, and they took care of me. Great benefits, vacations, 401K.

    Cons

Hours, pay, micro management. Very outdated computers and GPS units.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Marvin trained us to treat every customer the same whether they bought a half gallon of ice cream or all of their monthly groceries. As a customer, I can tell you that 2 hour time windows suck. Quit kicking the cusomers, RSR's and warehouse people to the ground. They are your life line! Take care of them and they will take care of you! The company is way too top heavy. Cut upper management salaries and purchase new equipment!

    I worked at Schwan's full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The customer interaction was great. Like any sales job the pay was great if you sold. I enjoyed working independently with a company truck.

    Cons

Long days and a lot of hours. Inventory control issues.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to REALLY listen to the opinions of the route drivers. They deal directly with the customers.
