World Class Organization that continues to evolve to the needs of their retail partners. Never have to worry about layoffs due to their strength in the market.

    Cons

Long hours during lawn and garden season. Plant Manager promotions usually based on "who you know" vs. "what you know"

    Pros

I came into a high functioning team and was given the opportunity by my VP to make changes, develop my people, add systems and to address gaps and deficiencies. I find the opportunity to fix or define process improvements abounds. Scotts is determined to improve so while roadblocks/old attitudes do exist there is a desire to move forward , recognize shortcomings and address them.

    Cons

Strategic Workforce Planning is not in place at Scotts yet and it shows, managing to a budget is not a strength and helps to generate "Growth" which is a euphemism for we cut costs here to fuel expansion there. Senior management is mercurial.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Manage costs and budget, hold leaders accountable to manage their costs and budget and to achieve business goals. Not everything can be blamed on the seasonal weather.

    Pros

The whole team has to win in order for anyone to bonus.

    Cons

The wall street expectations for a seasonal business. The executive press hard down the chain

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Relax on the micro management, and give the employee a break to be with family during the 150 days of hell.

    Pros

Given a lot of responsibility as an intern. Because of this I did grow a lot in my job role. Beautiful environment to work at. Good pay.

    Cons

Sometimes in over my head with work. Found myself stressed at times and was not given the opportunity to work with a team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensation was solid and so was the work environment, however I was confined to a cubicle and given projects that I was expected to complete myself with not too much collaboration between other employees.
