    Pros

Technical and academic advancement is highly valued here. Seagate has the best tuition program of any company in the area

    Cons

Of late, raises have diminished and been largely replaced with bonuses

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Seagate Technology full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

People are friendly, job is challenging, planning personal/professional growth is expected. Flexibility for work life balance is encouraged. I really like my management team.

    Cons

Getting to know your personal resources can be a challenge with a Global company. Sometimes communication gets lost when trying to work through issues.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep solid communication between teams. It saves a lot of problems on big projects that unknowningly cross paths.

I worked at Seagate Technology as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

I had a summer internship with Seagate. I was connected with a mentor who helped me during the summer. It was a wonderful learning experience and it greatly impacted my future career. I ended up continuing on to Grad school and working for a different company more closely aligned with my research field, but I still keep in touch with my Seagate mentor.

    Cons

My experience was as a summer intern, so I'm not sure I got to know the work environment deep enough to find any flaws with it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I'm very grateful for your internship program!

I worked at Seagate Technology as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The company has a tradition of their well designed intern program. The HR department planned a lot of events (almost every week~) especially for the interns to educate us about almost every aspects of the company, including their product, technology, general operation architecture, company culture, internal career path and so on. We've got quite a few opportunities to interact with people at all levels, especially the top management teams. Employees in the Minnesota site are generally very nice. Most of other interns said their intern projects are fun, including mine.

    Cons

Many employees spend 2/3 of their time on meetings. Not sure if it is a good thing for productivity.

I have been working at Seagate Technology

    Pros

Salary and benefits package are competitive.
Vacation time is highly respected and seldom refused nor interrupted.
There is a high degree of respect among employees and managers.

    Cons

There are fewer opportunities for those who are not educated, technical, and innovative.
The industry is one that is often vulnerable to highs and lows in the demand cycle, thus there are more regular layoffs than other industries.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer truthful feedback about the industry. Do not "sugar-coat" current conditions and performance. Reduce the length of all employee communications meetings.
