    Pros

Wonderful talented individuals working constantly to overcome highly political division management to deliver for the outstanding executive team and company as a whole. Creative, professional teams and strong peer support make environment worth the headaches.

    Cons

Meetings, meetings, meetings, and taboo subjects due to multiple acquisitions create a two-tiered culture. Productivity and profitability, particularly for Branded Solutions, is hiding the enormous potential. Habitual dismissal and de-hiring of top performers to protect status quo is costly and impactful to morale.

    Advice to Management

Executives awarding positions based on past performance excellence may want to consider domain expertise, particularly with regard to B2B vs B2C and software. While margins are ok, they are unnecessarily lean, and at risk with each release due to the lack of integration of division management in the tangible decisions being made each day "around" those executives to save product P&L.

    Pros

I enjoyed working with most all of my colleagues and customers. As a rather large company, they had the resources to get things done.

    Cons

It can be difficult to track down the information that you need and the people who might have it. Everything and everybody who you don't yet know well seem closed off behind walls of Lotus Notes databases.

    Pros

Stable company in a good business. Employees are treated well but moral isn't great due to general big company atmosphere, IMHO.

    Cons

Processes, code, etc are more complicated than they should be so much time is spent on trivial problems that don't add any value to the final product. Ownership of key technologies is closely held so innovation often doesn't pay.

  7. Compensation OK, but little career growth opportunity

    Pros

Seagate has a very fast paced environment. General compensation is all right. People are very smart and easy to work together with.

    Cons

There are very little career growth opportunities within Seagate. Overall working environment is depressing. New ideas are not given enough room to grow

    Advice to Management

Top management needs to give new ideas more room to prosper and not kill them prematurely.

    Pros

Work life balance is good if you are in the right group.

    Cons

Very up and down or mostly pessimistic outlook from wall street. Big compamy but does'nt control market or destiny.

    Advice to Management

Hire executives that can make a difference and are competent in their field. Dynamic executives don't let Seagate be second.

    Pros

Good healthy work environment at working level

    Cons

Too much management involvement on day to day activities

    Advice to Management

Explore options to hire more people from outside drive industry to manage teams. This will give a different perspective on running things more efficiently.

    Pros

The only good thing about working at Seagate is that they pay well. They have to, nobody wants to go into this technology field anymore.

    Cons

Unable to adapt to changing markets and to utilize the talent and technology within the company to expand beyond rotating storage. Upper management is so afraid to fail, they don't take risk. Blame for the eventual failure is pushed down the organization. Lots of dead wood kissing upper management's behinds.

    Advice to Management

Take a careful look at what your senior management team has actually achieved lately relative to where the PC market is and what the competition has done. Very mediocre.

    Pros

A good team work environment. Respect, team work, many talents, knowledge share. Nice managers. freedom working hour. not as busy as WD.

    Cons

too many managers, company cost is much higher than competitor. Once layoff, manager can survive while engineers will be laidoff. Too many meetings, manager drive meeting crasy while drive results less.

    Advice to Management

Manager should spend more time to follow engineers work, cannot listen to somebody only. Make a fair comments on engineers contribution.
