I have been working at Select Portfolio Servicing full-time

    Pros

Pay is ok but not worth the negativity of management and customers.

    Cons

Negative environment from management. Management does not care about employees. No room to advance. Changes are done without any notice so people cannot bonus. Opinions are not heard and quickly shut down. If you want to advance yourself with school, schedules are not accommodated. High turnover right but not hiring so current people are over worked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a more caring approach and be willing to communicate things. Allow a more flexible school schedule and you will be have a greater pool of people to advance into management.

I have been working at Select Portfolio Servicing full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Friendly Environment, younger aged employees.

    Cons

benefits, promotions, training when moving departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Moving someone multiple times and then having them meet or exceed that new departments goals was unattainable. There are many people who go in every day giving 150% and not acheiving bonuses, or promotions and those are the people who should be recognized, not the cheaters.

I have been working at Select Portfolio Servicing full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent pay to start, but raises are horrible even with a very good year end review.

    Cons

Bad insurance. Horrible management who demean their employees and are unprofessional. Cut throat/cold hearted co. Lots of favortism given to certain employees. Outsources anything and everything to India. Constant threats of your job being outsourced. High stress and they expect your job to be your life. Dont expect a good work/life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create a better work environment. Stop outsourcing American jobs and expect your employees to support it. They do a horrible job, and we have to fix their errors. Give a choice on insurance options. Stop letting managers break company rules just because they are in management.

I worked at Select Portfolio Servicing full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good hours, central location, to be honest the job was easy. Seems to be a company with promise.

    Cons

Poor, unprofessional management. It seems you get promoted just for sticking around long enough, not because you have leadership or skills. Management is very 'do as I say, not as I do'. Not enough work, horrible benefits, high-school atmosphere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire managers that have skills and know how to lead, or promote people who do, not just people who have been around long enough.

I have been working at Select Portfolio Servicing full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Excellent pay. Chance to make big money if you know how to work the system.

    Cons

Always making big changes and failing to communicate those changes clearly to employees. You'll get different answers from every member of management for the same question.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on fairness to your top performers. Don't move your best people into positions where they are expected to work harder for less money.

  7.

SPS expects a lot out the employees it has, and only applies more resources at the last minute.

I worked at Select Portfolio Servicing full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company is growing, and most of the customer-facing staff are very knowledgeable. The company is great at servicing mortgages and finding win-win situations for borrowers and investors. Lots of personality types, which keeps things interesting (sometimes just frustrating).

    Cons

Resources aren't applied until the last minute. Everyone is so risk-adverse, that often times nothing gets done. Small tasks are expanded to the point that they become so big and unmanageable. The company uses A LOT of paper rather than rely on technology. Executive management makes external promises without checking in with parties that will do the work, and often leave the teams scrambling to meet the promises (while still having to manage their everyday work).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in your employees. Fix what's broken. Don't keep committing to things and expecting 60 hour weeks as a result. Listen to the experts in the company and don't intimidate/threaten them to agree with you. Make sure you have the right people in charge... Not just the ones who play the political game the best and agree with you.
