I have been working at Senior Helpers (more than a year)

    Pros

You set your available hours. Good for someone with kids. Can increase and decrease hours as needed. On call and/or set schedule.

    Cons

May be canceled without adequate warning (ex. Cancel your Mon. Shift on Fri) Sometimes communication is lacking. Low pay, high turnover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay the workers fairly. Have staff meetings and support sessions. Provide more helpful information before sending staff to a new home.

I have been working at Senior Helpers part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    I can't think of any.

    Cons

You get very few hours or you have to drive 40 miles to make very little money
Hold your paycheck after you have been filling out your time and getting paid for 5 months, now all of a sudden you are doing it wrong and we are going to punish you by not giving your check for another 2 weeks. With no advance warning!

All the training I was suppose to get in the beginning, never happened. Put me to work and that was that.
Good thing I had some training from a previous job or I google what I need to know.
Have told them about a couple of clients that need changes made, they never investigate. All they seem to care about is getting their check.

Some caregivers are taking a nap on the job, client isn't happy about it, told SH nothing was ever done about it. So apparently it is okay if I go to a clients home and take a nap without doing your job.

I have some very nice people I care for, they are paying a lot of money for this service and it is just wrong that SH isn't doing their job!

They are always in a meeting when you call. I am starting to think that none of the caregiving services are good. I worked for another company that was even worse then this one.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your act together! Take care of your clients or get out of the business!

I have been working at Senior Helpers full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

-Get paid .55 cents per mile for driving clients to appointments -you choose when you want to work - friendly staff -your not just a number -quick responses when office is closed -you can pull yourself from any client you choose -call to ask for more work

    Cons

-LOW WAGES -NO BENEFITS -they try to schedule you far away from where you live and only give you 1 or 2 hours(YOU CAN AND SHOULD REFUSE) -work over time but don't not get paid for it BUT THEY BILL THE CLIENTS FOR IT -misread time sheets -not upfront sometimes about scheduling -do not schedule you with clients that want you and that you are available for

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Senior Helpers as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Being able to care for someone else is rewarding.
Your never around the office unless dropping off your time sheets or picking up your money.
I have only been there for 2 1/2 months, their very helpful in the beginning making sure you know what you need to know. No perks.

    Cons

Most of the time you call them they never pick up the phone, when you leave a message they dont ever get back to you. They have an emergency line in case something happens to a client, they dont respond to that either.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more involved in your company and make sure your employees are doing their job properly.

I have been working at Senior Helpers full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

hands on with clients in need of physical and mental assistant needs. Working in the health care field, the abilities to grow and gain knowledgeable learning as CNA responsibilities, and duties. Patient care is number one priority in the ability to keep them in their own homes for as long as it is possible. The benefits are reasonable.

    Cons

The various working hours and fill in schedules you maybe called in to fill a position for the day your scheduled off. Some hours are extended and requires me to find last moment notice for baby sitters.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Over all they are a great and professional company to work for who cares about and devoted to making their clients needs top priority and providing them with necessary equipment and staffing to maintaint he needs for long-term care of the elder and disabled clients.
