I have been working at Serco full-time for more than a year

    Pros

All politics aside, this team is doing great things for the American public. I have a true sense of being apart of soemthing ground-breaking.

    Cons

Must be extremely flexible. Processes change with lessons learned. Must be able to drop what your used to and go with something completely new. Unpredictable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Patience. Make sure you know exactly what you want before you ask for it. Only having a basic idea causes too much confusion and too much back and forth until we finally figure it out together.

I have been working at Serco full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Stable hours, full benefits, Nice introductory job into office work. 401(k) with company match, decent pay, Gained extensive knowledge of Affordable Care Act, Paid Federal Holidays off, vacation time after one year

    Cons

Things are constantly changing, within the same hour you can be working fast and well and suddenly, you're told not work or are out of work. Periods of "feast and famine" in terms of work to be done. Inconsistent direction from management. Not much opportunity to move up. Uneven promotional standards.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Needs more opportunity for moving up in the company, try to hire more from within, not just outisde. Needs better trainers. Greater preparation to deal with major changes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Serco full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Salary ok but not the highest payer
despite the way they treat staff they do employ some great people (that don't stay or become jaded)
    Benefits (but they keep changing)

    Cons

No personal development - had no objectives or development plan for three years
Centralised processes eg HR Shared services - don't work but company unwilling to change them due to the amount invested/saved in the change

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When you take over or TUPE another company in you need to be more up front from day one, we have been with serco for over 3 years and most staff know very little about the company. If you are demanding that people use certain systems (e.g. MyHR and SAP) ensure full training is given so there isn't problems further down the line.

Spend more time with struggling sections, rather than leaving them to fail or saying they should 'Embrace the Chaos' as this leads to Poor Morale, stressed out managers and many resignation of good staff. More communication and openess about business plans and future strategies, then the whole business can work on it together.

If changing job roles or departments, please consult staff with regards to the changes it isn't nice to be left in the dark when your job changes beyond recognition and gives you no confidence in the company.
