    Pros

The people make the difference and always will.

    Cons

The culture of people, respect, and mutual support give way to the bottom line. People are just tools to acheive a financial end. Very sad it has become all about business.

I worked at Severn Trent Services

    Pros

The time i was working there they were going through system changes updating their very outdated system with a much needed upgrade. My immediate management was always super friendly and able to accommodate my needs if it was possible for that to happen.

    Cons

The company as a whole did not give the employees the kind of respect that they deserve for working there. The floors were pulled up from water damage and cubicles were eventually turned into picnic tables. The company does not value their employees enough to compensate them for their efforts and take care of the work environment.

Very neutral views towards the management of the plant operations. They work to stay where they are.

    Pros

They will spend thousands of dollars training and educating you for their needs. They will send you to college to become state certified operators . They will pay for books ,certifications, room and board while at school.

    Cons

They will not spend the money on keeping you with the company. They give very small raises if any. When you complain about the cost of living. They say well its the Matrix of the company. To try and keep costs down and profits up. They will lose a worker to competitors then give a pay raise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to the workers, see what there needs are or complaints. Most management seldom leave their office.

I worked at Severn Trent Services full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

It was very enjoyable work, tough, physical but rewarding and the type of work I enjoy. The people I worked with where friendly and made the work day go by quickly.

    Cons

Have to be on call for holidays and weekends. Have to work every other weekend (great for the overtime, which is helpful) and have to work selected holidays. Only thing is you get to decide and split up the holidays with whoever else works at the same plant as you so least you get to split it up evenly and fairly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Notice your workers more and the long tough hours that people put in for you. Just because you get to show up once a month at each plant doesn't mean all you should do is criticize your workers and tell them things that need to be done better. A good word here and there goes a long way in boosting company morale especially since your plant workers visit other plants for different work tasks in their local area so much, that all of the workers talk about those things with each other.

An okay place to work, but not a place for the ambitious

I have been working at Severn Trent Services

    Pros

The employees are good natured and committed. The facilities are generally well maintained and safely operated. The organizations operating income is quite stable due to the nature of the primary business.

    Cons

Management is fickle and talks out of both sides of their mouth. The organization has an aggressive growth plan, but they do not staff or invest appropriately to support their ambitions in addition to being risk averse. In contrast to the growth ambition, the organization has a business plan that focuses on near-term profit rather than long term growth. Opportunities for professional growth and advancement in the organization are limited. Many employees are past their prime and a succession plan is not evident.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Planning and investment is imperative to the long term success of the organization.

I have been working at Severn Trent Services

    Pros

The organization has a relatively laid back atmosphere. Not too much pressure is placed on the day to day activities of the employees.

    Cons

The organization has a myopic vision for the future, or at least as communicated to the employees from upper management. There is very little employee turnover, so many ideas are old and non-progressive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Demonstrate leadership by communicating long term plans through the ranks and acting upon stated plans.
