I worked at Shaw Communications full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Moving up is easy as long as you are determined, have a positive attitude and can network. Always have a goal of where you would like to advance to and work towards it, otherwise you can end up being stuck in the same position for years. Not that this is bad for everyone, some people are happy right where they are.
Benefits are great and the employees are amazing.

    Cons

Shift work, if you work in the call centre.
Changes happen on a regular, need to always keep updated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure you acknowledge your immediate staff. Bring in more training for front line agents who have gone years with only the new hire.

I worked at Shaw Communications part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits, employee appreciation days, shaw BBQ, great working team environment, company values, employee discount on products, working here has a lot of perks . Its a good place to work part time while raising a family or going to school.

    Cons

its a call centre- imagine being tied to a chair for all of your shift and taking call, after call and looking forward to your 15 minute breaks. Then they feed you mini donuts and ice cream. This may sound like a pro to some but you come out overweight and unhealthy after a few years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management was great, accommodated my student life when i needed it.

I have been working at Shaw Communications

    Pros

Plenty of opportunity for advancement, training, and growth. A company that values its employees and creates a fun but professional work environment.

    Cons

Many of the best jobs/opportunities are based in Calgary. There is some opportunity to advance within sub-regions, but most opportunities are near the headquarters.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up with your focus on your people
