    Berkshire Hathaway Company

    Territory Manager (Current Employee)

ProsWell known in the floor covering industry as well as being a part of Berkshire Hathaway. Freedom and independence for self motivated go getters in the sales field.

ConsPoor management with no sense of direction. To many chiefs with their own agenda trying to direct the sales force. A lot of flip flopping taking place. Management has not given the sales force a raise in the last 6 years, which is fine if you are selling and growing your business. The only down side to growing your business is having your territory cut and given to reps who are struggling.

Advice to Senior ManagementWake up and listen to what is taken place in the sales field. You are all about surveys, how about finding out what your salesforce really thinks.

Compared to other wage slave jobs, better than most.

    LTO (Current Employee) Minneapolis, KS

ProsGood pay. Company takes safety seriously. Good equipment. Ok vacation time. A lot of good people work for shaw industries.

ConsThe only difference between a 30 year employee and a day labor brought in for the week is the employee has more vacation. Advancement greatly enhanced with "Atlas Shrugged" type mindset. Job description changes moment to moment as management deems necessary.

Advice to Senior ManagementRequire lower management to attend management training classes. Statements like "We appreciate the job you are doing" are meaningless if long term employees are told they are no different than a new recruit. Treated as a "Labor Unit".

Engineering Co-Op (Current Employee) Dalton, GA

ProsIt's a really good place to work and has good opportunities for entry level positions. There a lot of really genuine people that are willing to help.

ConsThere's not a lot of movement within the middle level managers. This causes a lot of stagnant positions.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe IS infrastructure needs to be updated very bad.

Solid company in a small town

Senior QC Process Engineer (Former Employee) Dalton, GA

ProsProfessional environment, high rate of training and development, easy to change jobs within the company, excellent management trainee program for recent grads, most managers have engineering degrees.

ConsBureaucratic, few female managers and no female executives, headquarters and most plants located in small towns, old school, top heavy with too many management layers, ineffective employees seem to be protected against losing their jobs, "sink or swim" culture.

Advice to Senior ManagementAllow flex time and telecommuting part-time in more departments.
