    Pros

Great culture, Care for Employees, Great management that keeps the company growing, equal opportunity employer

    Cons

Sometimes it seems everyone's opinions and suggestions are not valued. Some of the higher management seem to get their way even if its not profitable to the company which also affects the employees morale watching it. Could get better with openness.

    Pros

The people in this company really care about their employees. The value of the company is not just writing on the walls but actually how they operate.

    Cons

Sometimes it is challenging to interview for a position as a trainee and compete against people with industry experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They invest a lot into this program financially but sometimes the belief in the program from upper management is in question.

I worked at Shaw Industries full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

They pay for this job is about as good as you can get in my area and we were payed weekly and on time.

    Cons

Management were too focused on themselves and would not commit to something if they thought that it would be incorrect. Focus on safety was over the line to the point that people were afraid to do their job. Management was indecisive and I often had to re-do work that was done like they wanted. Shaw was supposed to be paperless yet I signed at least 10 sheets of paper a day that were usually lost or duplicated within a week. They focused on on job safety by installing gates and fences that only hourly employees had to use while managers were allowed to enter through unguarded entrances and the gates and fences installed did not alloy employees to leave easily if there was an emergency.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Being too strict on employees and too focused on the bottom line hurts moral and makes employees feel bad and be negative about their job.

I have been working at Shaw Industries full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

They pay well and promote from within and run a taught ship so that good hardworking employees have jobs. If you are lazy - this is not the place to work. If you work hard - go for it!

    Cons

Very traditional set-up. A better family/life work balance is needed. Something to discuss before you are hired there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to identify a family life work balance. It can be better.

I have been working at Shaw Industries full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The company makes an excellent product of carpeting and hard surface flooring. Upper management is very business wise.

    Cons

Women do not have the opportunities to advance in their careers like men do. Few opportunities for cross training to learn skills in different areas for future career opportunities. Getting promoted is often more in who who know vs. what you know. The company is not cutting edge. Tend to follow instead of lead in the industry. Not very competitive with associate benefits.

I worked at Shaw Industries full-time

    Pros

Very quickly you are given direct responsibility for project outcomes. Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing experience can be built easily and relatively quickly.

    Cons

As is the case with most manufacturing sites, most locations are in small towns, not ideal for young/single people, but a great place for those with families.
